Carly,

Congratualtions on your engagment!! He sounds like a keeper!!

~tricia~

-- Some good news!

I know you all are just getting to know me but I

wanted to share some more good news with you. I just

got engaged 3 days ago! My fiance's name is Dave and

he's living in Sacramento, CA for the summer (while

I'm in Utah). He will graduate with a Master's in

Public Administration in April 2003. We're planning

on getting married August 24th. He is so good to me

and is always looking out for me. I'm fairly high

functioning right now and haven't had any severe

disease activity since we met, but he's always very

concerned about keeping me out of the sun because of

the medications, making sure I get plenty of rest and

has assured me that if I have fertility problems or

just can't get off of the Methotrexate, he would love

to have a family of adopted children with me. Isn't

he just the sweetest? Anyway, I'm a bit giddy and

excited and wanted to share it with all of you. I

hope you're all having a good day and you're all in my

prayers.

Love,

Carly

Carly,

That is so wonderful! I can hear the joy and excitment in your post. How

beautiful. I wish you all the best. Congratulations and please keep us posted

on the planning. It's good you gave yourself enough time to plan...that's so

important with Still's. Please pace yourself as not to get too stressed out.

What a treat to hear today...thank you for sharing.

Love and Hugs, Kim

Go Go Kate!

How exciting for you. I hope you learn quicker than I did on " poking "

yourself. I just did it this morning and I still, after a year on Enbrel,

get butterflies in my tummy. I tried being a nurse in my younger days but

walked out when the cat dissection was required. I probably could have never

given injections either.

I did not do well on just plain old Enbrel. It took MTX as a kicker so keep

that in mind although some of us do fantastic on just the Enbrel itself.

Good luck with it and do keep us posted on how you are feeling with it.

After the three months is up, do you have to start paying for it or will you

always be an " experimental " patient? :o)

waiting for my first dose. I am so happy that this day has finally come for

you Kate. Let us know how you are doing friend. Good luck tomorrow.

Thanks Carmen!

I kind of felt bad having good news on such a sad day. I will stay on the

plaquenil while on the enbrel, at least for now. My hope is that the enbrel

will work well enough that I will be able to drop it. After the 3 months I

have to go through my regular insurance with Walgreens which covers it at the

non-formulary co-pay of $35.. I still knock wood for that blessing -- I will

let you know how it goes tomorrow -- and thanks again

Love,

Kate

Hi Kate,

You'll have to back up a little for me. I must have missed something you

wrote about you being in trial with Enbrel. How were you selected and why?

You said in your last letter that after the three month's trial that your

insurance would start picking up the cost. I thought at first that you were

picked because you had no insurance at all and this was a generosity on the

part of Enbrel. I'm a little confused as to why they would give you the free

trial when you have insurance or is it just a " pick someone to test " trial?

For some of us here that do not have insurance, how would they get on to this

list? I have insurance so it was never a problem to obtain it although my

doctor did have to write a novel on how it would help my case and my

insurance company decided that it would benefit me.

I am really happy for you and can't wait to hear how you are progressing. I

tried Placquenil at my early onset and did not do well with it. It made me

itch with a rash. Lucky you that you are responding to it.

I hope what I am trying to ask you makes sense to you. Happy

" poking " ........... :o)

My nurse instructor suggested the " X " poking in my tummy. I wrote it on my

calendar for the year so I wouldn't forget where to poke next. I use my

belly button for the dividing line and do " upper left " then " upper right "

then " lower left " and then " lower right " . Seems to work for me...:o)

Will do Sheila! Though i remember from last time, its the thyroxine

that needs increasing. Going for bloods on Monday so i know what to

crank it up to!

(my first one was also an armour thyroid baby - i was not ovulating,

with dysfunctional uterine bleeding, 2 periods a month and begging for

a hyst prior to getting Armour in 2002. I conceived my first in March

2003, thanks to Armour.)

Yay!
