Guest guest
I've been taking 50 mg Iodoral for several years with good results. Lost my husband last November and it's been a rough 6 mo. I was getting more and more tired and suddenly I crashed and had to go to bed for several days. Doc feels it's stressed/exhausted adrenals AND thyroid. So I'll be trying a little Armour, 1/4 grain to start, as he says the sicker you are the less you start with, contrary to conventional approaches. I can't take chemical drugs as they make me deathly ill. I'm on lots of adrenal supplements, thyroid supps, and continuing Iodoral. I found a few resources in searching for solutions, thought I'd share them here. www.womentowomen.com lots of interesting and excellent thoughts about alternative approaches to women's health issues, particularly thyroid and adrenals. Hypothyroidism Type 2: The Epidemic, by Mark Starr, MD. He doesn't go into the topic of iodine, which is a shame, but the book is a real eye-opener on the topic of hypothyroid symptoms. His solution is desiccated thyroid (Armour or Westhroid) and he gives a good explanation as to why synthetics aren't the answer. I've always stoutly maintained that many times supplemental iodine is all the thyroid needs to start doing its job, but my own recent experience plus this book is making me change my mind. We will see what the Armour does to/for me when it arrives. Of course I will continue Iodoral, which I hunch may help me to need less Armour. Or is that a pipe dream? I'm 65. regards to everyone, The world is mad. But that shall not stop me from trying to make it a better place, and myself a better person, with every breath. Get trade secrets for amazing burgers.
