Guest guest
A friend of mine recently had very painful kidney stones from taking too much CALCIUM. That's something to watch out for. I don't know if a person could really take too much magnesium because they'd end up in the bathroom and that would be their clue to cut back a little. Hi, Amber: Yeah, you can take too much magnesium. But it's up there in the amount. I'd have to take 24+ of my pills to get there, which I'm not going to do. Yes, calcium supplements can cause kidney stones and it's because of the lack of sufficient magnesium. There's a ratio for ca/mg. It's like ca 2 and mg 1, but now some doctors are saying it should be more like: 2 mg to ca 1 instead. I.e., higher on the mg. end of things. Guest guest
Whether or not the kidney stones were from too much calcium would be up for question. the formation of kidney stones has many factors. While calcium is a main component the cause should probably not be extrapolated from that. Cheap " inorganic " forms like carbonates, gluconates, etc. can definitely effect it. More bioavailable sources like citrates, malates, aspartates etc. have been associated with the dissolution of kidney stones! Magnesium is very different in function than calcium and does not seem to be a problem. Again, proper bonding is always an issue. -Dave ----- Original Message ----- From: Amber <mailto:amber@...> gallstones <mailto:gallstones > Sent: Friday, June 15, 2007 3:11 PM Subject: Re: People who had surgery A friend of mine recently had very painful kidney stones from taking too much CALCIUM.
