Guest guest
Hi Eve, Did you make your pancakes from Wheat Flour....caused me no end of problems with wheat...diagnosed with Coeliac disease Eight years ago and affected my GB and ended up with a Hiatus hernia as well. I got so bad in the end I had to have GB removed and the Hiatus done at the same time. Just thought Coelicas and Gluten intolenrance might be worth considering. I fixed some pancakes (from scratch) and shortly after consuming them realized what a mistake I had made. The past couple of nights, I'd noticed a little stomach ache after eating and didn't think anything of it. But this " ache " grew quickly. Within a half hour, I was ready to dial 911. But I had to take the kids to swim practice and figured I'd live. I brought the little ones back home and left my stepdaughter to practice and had my husband come home and take me to the hospital. (Luckily, we are in a small town where the pool is within walking distance and the hospital is maybe 2 miles away). My husband happened to be working at the hospital (on their computer system) and just after I instructed my 6 year old to call 911 if I passed out, he walked in the door. I've never known the comfort of morphine like I knew it today. I thought I was going to die until they finally got it into me. I have slept most of the day. Oddly enough, I did not vomit until we had left the hospital, and then again a number of hours later before I ate. I had some organic tomato soup which has not caused any problems at all. My previous gall bladder attacks were some indigestion and pain in my upper back. This totally blew any of that away. The past two months I had done well, but was eating very healthy. Slowly, my diet grew less and less healthy, but I still consumed apple juice daily, started magnesium last week, and used lots of olive oil. I guess it's not enough. (It doesn't help that my stepdaughter's mom has us stressed out and that I am having my period- that seems to do it for me). Any suggestions on what to do now? Do you think I passed a stone? Have a blessed day! Evie Maddox
Guest guest
I have been there! I would venture to say that the butter or margerine (if used) on the pancakes pushed the gallbladder over the edge. I think the gallbladder will give you a few 'free tickets' and allows you to eat bad stuff with minimal pain. Pay attention to these signs. The pains start out really mild, then they increase in intensity as days go by and the junk food increases. I have been taking Milk Thistle daily, and drinking organic Apple cider vinegar. It seems to really help when I drink it before eating things with extra oil in it, such as pizza (although on occasion I skip the ACV mix thinking that I can handle it, since there is usually no pain at the time of consumption). This ACV is actually a good idea to take before and slightly after eating any foods with any oil in it. > > I fixed some pancakes (from scratch) and shortly after consuming them > realized what a mistake I had made... Guest guest
Steve, Here goes a LONG answer.LOL but I think you might be correct. I made the pancakes with spelt and barley flours, both of which have gluten. I started suspecting this problem when my now 4.5 year old would not eat bread products when she was a toddler. I thought it strange that she just didn't want the foods that most kids LOVED; she would even pick the toppings off her pizza and leave the bread. I've also noticed her complaining of tummy aches frequently. She has a long history of UTI's since 2 years so I've known something was up with her immune system. When I started researching gall bladder disease, I read somewhere that people who have their gall bladders removed have an increased risk of diabetes. I believe it's related but not the way they portrayed in the study. I also read that most suffering from gall bladder disease actually had food allergies. It all makes sense, but what they don't know is what causes what and when and in what order. My father and all his brothers have/had their gall bladders removed; they are also diabetic. Perhaps they were all gluten intolerant which led to both gall bladder disease and diabetes? We also all have skinny arms and legs and big bellies. Well, mine can only be so big at 106 lbs., but that is where I gain it and my dad's is like a basketball. Back to the gluten problem and how my daughter's issues relate to mine: When I started wondering about her, I really started looking at me since I know it's largely genetic. But what has thrown me (and what the doctor has said) is that my daughter has not had problems thriving, one of the main symptoms. I've got to remember that we don't have to meet ALL the symptoms of the disease in order to have it. When I first started having gall bladder problems, I went on a diet of almost all veggies, fruits, and a little bit of egg/yogurt. I lost 15 lbs. I felt great and noticed that my hypoglycemia was gone (duh). Then I got lazy and started adding back foods that I shouldn't have. I have kept the weight off, but I can tell how the foods make me feel horrible. I will avoid grains and see what happens. If this means I can keep the protein in my diet and add back some meats, I will be SO happy, but I will also miss the foods that are killing us all anyway! Have a blessed day!
