hi there Kim, with your family history it would seem that you may well be hypo . ask your doctor to jest do the free T4 and also TPOab tests these should show if it is hypothyroid or not.the TSH test is unreliable and most of us are in the so called normal range, (but this is now called the reference range.). A result over 10 ml in the TPOab test indicates a positive result for Hashimoto`sdisease, which is autoimmune . the Free T4 test should be near the top not at the bottom. if your doctoris not cooperative you should look for another one. hope this helps you . angel.
