Guest guest
Hi , Yes I can relate to how you feel I had 17 teeth extracted at one time then seven surgeries afterwards, Don't worry this to shall pass. Yes you will have very pretty teeth and you will be very proud of them. Good Luck . I have never regretted having mine pulled. I look so much better. Guest guest
Thankks Deb It has been a week, and still no change. I am still having pain in my gums and can't get bottom denture out due to swelling. The surgeon and the dentist coulld not get it out either. My vision is blurry and my eyes burn, and I have sores where the denture rubs. Other than all that, I am pretty good. Sorry, didn't mean to complain so much How bout you? > Good to hear that all went well. Enjoy the pain medication, get some rest & > post when you are up to it. Guest guest
just a thought... when are they going to do the check-up and full dental follow up x-ray? When I had all my wisdom teeth pulled at once, I hurt and hurt. It was not " dry socket " , it was unbearable after pain that was not subsiding. Then after a week I got sores and nothing would not heal. I called and went back in. Was suppose to wait 2 weeks, but went back at one week. They did the full dental follow up x-ray. Seems that the BONE, (jaw bones) were not healing, in fact, they were just wasting away! They started me on massive " old time " Penicillin. No other antibiotic would touch it. It was EXPENSIVE. I had to take this for 6 weeks, believe it or not! They also noted that my jaw bones had formed some kind of tumors (for unk. reason) in the bones where teeth had been, after the extractions! So... back to surgery. They took tumors out... sent off to check them. It was a " type of tumor " that does do this occasionally. They were bening (sp?) but were causing deteriation of bones! Ha! Only me! After that was " fixed " ... my bones finally started healing, and the tissue. It was a mess... but I did survive! You know, we all do our best when we KNOW what a problem is. Seems we fight it so much better then! Susie cwade@... wrote: > Thankks Deb > > It has been a week, and still no change. Guest guest
, Oh I feel so sorry for you. I know how bad it feels to have something in your mouth and not be able to take it out. I was able to take mine out after 3 days, that was heaven. Does the dentist know why you still have so much swelling? After 3 days or so I was fine both times. I hope you are better soon. I promise after it is over it will be worth it. Hang in there. Tery cwade@... wrote: >Thankks Deb > >It has been a week, and still no change. Guest guest
Hi Lynn, I too will be praying extra hard that the doc and you can come to some resolution of this problem asap. You can't live on those liquids very long & they certainly aren't conducive to pre-op nourishment. At this time, the hard decisions are already made, having the surgery or not, it is just the time element. By now, it is better to get this over with, if the doctor says that you are able to tolerate physically, and get back to some type of normal life. Please have someone keep in touch with us, so that we can light our candles and know how you are doing. Keep thinking good thoughts, you HAVE made the right decision and I still believe, that once you are back to your old self, you will wonder why you waited so long to have it done. You will be in my thoughts and prayers, my friend. God's strength and protection to you and your family. Love ya..... Guest guest
Lynn, I'm so sorry to hear that you are feeling so awful. I hope you have called the new GI doctor by now and I pray that she can help you come up with a solution that makes sense - and soon. I know you aren't anxious to do this surgery any sooner than you have to, but it's now only the difference of a few days. Please let us know the plan if you can so that we light our candles. Try not to worry. Love, [ ] surgery > Hi , > I haven't been on but I think we may have to push the surgery up. Guest guest
Lynn, I wish I could give you the future also. But none of us can. Just please trust in your medical team which seems to be second to none and trust in God, he will protect you and comfort you during these difficult times. They may just seem like words, but these words have worked for some 2000 years now so there must be something to them! You have worried and carried this burden for so long, let God take over from here on out. He has bigger shoulders than we could ever hope for. If earthly prayers could make it all better, you'd be 110%..... I have had a candle going this evening for you after I read your post and my strongest prayers are being said for you and your family. You hang in there,my friend, you ARE strong and God will guide the surgeons hands and give him knowledge to correct the problem that Mother Nature and modern man has given you. Love you, Deb

Guest guest
Lynn, Of course this is hard for you. It's natural to feel worried and frightened when facing major surgery. You fear that you may die. Anyone, especially a mother of so many children, would have thoughts like that. You are very brave though. You have survived a lot of trials in your life - I know you can do this. You are also a woman of faith. Try to believe that everything will be OK and that God will be with you. I also honestly think that number of doctors you consulted would not be unanimously recommending the surgery if they thought it presented a great danger to you. Despite how you are feeling emotionally, logically, you know that the odds are overwhelmingly on your side. The Whipple procedure has been performed many times now and with much success. Your surgeon is very experienced. You and I have both read the facts, and we know that the vast majority of patients come through the surgery very well. You are going to be in that majority. I know that I and everyone here will be pulling for you and so will your other dear friends and family members. Please try not to worry. Just imagine how good you will be feeling after the surgery is over. Love, Re: [ ] surgery > , > I thought I was okay with this but the closer it gets, the harder. I think your body is trying to tell you that you really don't have any other choice but to push up the surgery. I wish there was some other way, but all of your doctors agree that the whipple is your best and only option. You have to have faith in your excellent medical team. Guest guest
Dear Lynn, I just " returned " to the list a couple days ago, so do not know what all is happening, other than that you are very concerned about some surgery. I do not know if you are a spiritual person or not, so please do not be offended by my suggestion if you are not. There is a passage from the bible that goes something like " do not worry about anything, instead pray to God about everything. Tell him your worries and ask him to take them from you. If you do this you will know God's peace, which is far more wonderful than anything you can imagine. " Now, I know that is not exact!! But it was in a pamphlet given to me the last time I was in the hospital. It took me a while to understand and be able to do it, but what it says is simply to tell God you are not strong enough right now to worry about this surgery, and you will put your worries in His hands, along with your faith and trust in Him. If you say it enough, it works!! A few deep breathing techniques will also help. And in the meantime, please remember that there are a lot of people praying for you. Another group I'm on has a prayer list - probably similar to the candle lighting. About every couple months, something very serious comes along, and we all pray in our own way - and I must tell you that so far, all our prayers have been answered as we requested! With hugs and prayers, Jo RE: Re: [ ] surgery Lynn, Please don't worry about answering all of our e-mails. We know how much you must be going through right now. Please know my prayers are with you. Guest guest
, Thank you we are in the count down now. I know you are right and I do feel that I have a good medical team. I am so grateful for all the information you got me. I have read it many times to keep it all straight. It has been a year since I could have a salad and I am looking forward to that. I basically live on salads, I always have. So the fact that I won't be able to eat fried, spicey, or high fat foods doesn't bother. I just can't wait for that first salad. Guest guest
Hi Jo, This is beautiful I printed it out and will keep it with me. On Friday I am having what is called a Whipple. For the last year I have had a lot of stomach problems, so I hope this fixes it. It is a long surgery but I just have to do it. Again Thank You, this was special. ` Lynn (MeMom) ---------- > From: jowicklund <jowicklund@...> > > Subject: Re: Re: [ ] surgery > Date: Monday, August 27, 2001 3:24 PM > > Dear Lynn, > I just " returned " to the list a couple days ago, so do not know what all is happening, other than that you are very concerned about some surgery. " > Now, I know that is not exact!! > With hugs and prayers, > Jo > RE: Re: [ ] surgery > > > Lynn, > Please don't worry about answering all of our e-mails. We know how much you must be going through right now. Please know my prayers are with you. Guest guest
Lynn, I know these days are the hardest, all your thoughts turn toward the surgery. Just have trust and faith in your medical team. I think God has lead to right people for the right job. Prayers are always yours without even asking along with everyone else here. Try to rest and think pleasant thoughts. Love you always......... Gentle, tender, angel hugs, Deb
