Guest guest
Just wondering if there is one, and if yes- where and when? if no, would someone like to start one or just setup a meeting? probably including Bellevue/Redmond/Sammamish/Issaquah. Thanks!! -7/19/06 NWWLS/Montgomery 270/252/247/145 High/surg/now/goal
Guest guest
I have not heard of an Eastside group, but if there is not one I would be interested in helping to get one going. Kyra
Guest guest
I am new to this group and looking for a support group in the Issaquah general area. Sammamish would be fine also, but I tend to really get lost up there! How does a group get started? What guidelines need to be followed? I would like to actively participate as I am working towards being banded sometime in the near future when the insurance company gets off their duff to approve the surgery. Meanwhile, doing what I can to fulfill doctor's wishes as best I can while we wait. Tests are all complete except for weight management (not sure I even need it yet, but started it just in case) Any support group within a 15 to 20 mile radius of Issaquah would be great. Just want to get this process going!!! Marie ----original quoted post snipped by moderator---
Guest guest
-----entire quoted post snipped by grumpy moderator---- Hi Marie I am new to this group too (this morning!). I will be banded next week by Dr. Watkins at NWWLS and I live in Sammamish. I too am looking for a local group to join. I am anxious to get the process going as well because driving up to Everett once a month is a challenge and I am anxious to find support locally. Would love to connect and figure out how we can put all the local people together or join an existing group Good luck with your insurance! Here's the info on the Crossroads meeting. Redmond/Bellevue Soup Night Date: Friday September 22, 2006 Time: 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm Author: Delene_ Repeat: This event repeats on the fourth Friday of every month. Type: Appointment Location: Crossroads Mall Come and join our Soup Night at Crossroads Mall, Bellevue. Meet beside Starbucks at 6:30pm (look for the table with the Butterfly picture) for Fun and Support with your Banded friends. Food Court means lots of choices no matter what stage you are at. Come along and have some fun! **Copy this link to your browser for Crossroads Mall information and directions. http://www.crossroadsbellevue.com/directionshours/index.htm This group was started by two new bandsers last December. We've had anywhere from 2-12 people show up monthly. We are there for moral support and to share in each other's successes and struggles. It is very informal. You can eat if you want or just visit. Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend the meeting this month. Please come if you can. Sandy B. Dr. Montgomery 11/01/
Guest guest
//I am highly interested in an Issaquah area group but would like to find out more about the Redmond/Bellevue group. Do you know how I can find out more about them?// Right here! Yes we have a Redmond/Bellevue support group at Crossroads Mall on the 4th Friday of every month at 6:30pm. We are on the calendar here and there are reminders set to post a few days before each month. Its very casual, come if you can, eat if you want or don't if you don't. The number that attends varies from month to month. Sandy B and I are usually there, and try to mention on this board if we can't make it. So come alomg if you can, I will be there this month (friday 22nd) with my Butterfly card at a table near Starbucks, so hope to see some of you. I would also be interested in a daytime Eastside group, when we set up the current Redmond/Bellevue group friday evening suited most, is there anyone else interested in starting a daytime group as well? Guest guest
Hi Maureen, This is great to find some bandsters and potential bandsters in the Issaquah area! I have already started the pre-op testing and got most of the testings completed, with SWLC in Tacoma. I am seriously considering changing to NWWLS since I just found out that Dr Srikanth has left that clinic to start his own in Federal Way. I just feel like I have been left " high and dry " by both the doctor and the clinic with this move. I have checked out the NWWLS last night and saw that they are having a group meeting in Issaquah for the introduction to the lap band. It is for this Sunday at 2 pm at the Holiday Inn in Issaquah. I am planning on going so that I can meet the people and decide which clinic to actually do my surgery. If you are available, would love to meet you then. Guest guest
Thanks Sandy for the info. I would love to come, but that nite is already taken. How often do you have meetings? Maybe I can get it on the calendar now for the next meeting. Marie
Guest guest
Also if you are starting a new group - feel free to post here and see if some of us old timers will come over for the first few meetings - it really helps to have someone who has been there and done that - and it's always fun to show the before and afters. There used to be a group - I went once or twice as I work over on the east side - but as Jessie said - you build it - they will come!
