Guest guest
Hi to all, what a fab group....anyway was just wondering if it is safe to take Armour thyroid and thyro complex together. I haven't started on Armour yet, am excitedly ordering it tonight for myself and my mum, I'm currently on 200mg thyroxine and my mum is on 120mg. We've read all the stuff on how to take Armour but was wondering if it would hurt to take any vitamin supplements too? Thanks, Mandy. Guest guest
HI Mandy Welcome to our Forum and I hope you get all the support and help that you need here. There is no need to take thyroid complex asnd Armour thyroid at the same time. Thyroid complex is taken to boost the action of your thyroid before you start on thyroid hormone replacement. Once you are on the right dose of Armour your body needs, your body will be getting all the natural thyroid hormones it requires. You should have a look in our website www.tpa-uk.org.uk and click on 'Hypothyroidism' and then in the drop down menu, click on Nutrition and Supplements' and read the information there. That tells you what vitamins and minerals that are good for you. You should take Selenium 200 mcgs daily to help with the conversion of the T4 to T3. Make absolutely sure you fully understand the document "How to Use Armour" that you will find in our files and don't try to rush any increases in dose. Otherwise, you will simply make yourself very uncomfortable. Print off the recommendations and keep them handy - whenever I need to do something like this, I stick the information inside one of my kitchen cupboard doors so it is always handy as a reference. I hope you have both also done the adrenal questionnaire (look in our FILES of this Forum and read everything regarding adrenals on our website too. If you have low adrenal reserve, candida albicans, low ferritin - any of these will stop your Armour from working as it should, and all three should be looked into first and boosted if necessary before starting. Good luck - I hope you both do well on Armour, but remember, no matter what dosage of thyroxine you were taking previously, never start on any higher dose than half a grain for the first 7 days because Armour has got other hormones in it that your body has been without for a long time, and it needs to get used to these new goodies slowly.
