Me again - Okay I think that I found a list of supplements to go along

with the iodine (http://www.breastcancerchoices.org/iprotocol.html

about 1/4 of the way down) - I assume that this is likely the

best/most recent info on that subject -- is that right?

Also on the Senenium -- I think I am currently taking 1 X 100 selenium

tablet/per day (I guess the unit is mcg's). As I understand it

Senenium is supposed to be one of the most important supplements to

take if you are taking iodine -again as I understand it, they tend to

go together for example a deficiency in both is thought to be more

common than a deficiency in just one and correcting the deficiency in

just one can actually cause more problems than doing nothing both

deficiencies should be corrected at once --- is that sort of right??

I think that one of the main risks of taking iodine without senenium

has to do with auto-immune thyroid conditon/damage - is that right?

But one thing that really concerns me is the possibility that senenium

supplementation might lead to an increased risk of Diabetes (Selenium

and Diabetes: More Bad News for Supplements --21 August 2007

http://www.annals.org/cgi/content/full/147/4/271). I have PCOS and

insulin resistance and so type 2 diabetes is a serious concern for me.

I have read some hopeful assertions about iodine and insulin

resistance for example:

[quoting] " Iodine also has an impact on glucose metabolism. There have

been no studies on this to date, only observations of clinicians who

have patients taking high amounts of iodine. It appears that iodine

increases the sensitivity of the insulin receptor, which improves

glucose control. . . . . " Source:

I was wondering if anyone could offer any insight on this. Also -

does anyone know if the amount of selenium that is need if you are

taking iodine as a supplement varies according to dose -- like is

there formula for a ratio of selenium/iodine or it is a certain amount

of selenium that you need if you are taking any iodine supplementation?
