Guest guest
Hi everyone, I have been here a little while just absorbing as much info as possible, thank you for all of your insight, but I am still a little confused about a few things (brain fog sorry). I don't have a doc to work with me on this so I tried the iodine patch test, One spot that I did on my inner arm at bedtime was gone when I woke up. I also did a spot on my foot and it is still there at 10 15 am . why is there a difference? Now why second question is I haven't had my thyroid levels regulated in like the past 4 years. Im up then down etc... I have been through 3 endos and I called my pcp 2 weeks ago and told her that she is going to have to learn how to treat with armour or t3 or something , she was going to talk to an old endo that comes in the practice to talk to residents, so anyway Im seeing her on thursday and hopefully she will have a plan. should I wait until I am regulated until starting something like this or do you think that this would actually help me regulate? I am taking a supplement with iodine in it but it only has 150 mcg.I just started supplements 4 days ago. I also was just dx with a cyst on my ovary,(its prob been there for a yr) I started to complain of pelvic pain last april . I should also include : dx 1990 with goiter/hypothyroid on .25 synthroid for 14 yrs (no real problems) then after my 6th child was born started depo provera (which I think caused ALL my problems) in november 2003, was taken off synthroid by feb 2004 as I went hyper. they took a wait and see approach , beta blockers , methamazole (allergic reaction) so RAI in Jan 2005, within two weeks of RAi double vision, and ever since the I have only had one (normal blood result which only lasted one month . I am still only on synthroid 150 mcg, If I take 175 I end up hyper . And if I stay on 150 as I am now . The last endo told me to rotate the dose 150 /175 as I was doing.I ended up hyper again with heart palps,etc... so I have been 150 mcg again for one week and Im already feeling hypo again. thanks for your help kathy
Guest guest
Kathy I am wondering the same thing you are how much Lugol's or iodine are we suppose to be taking? I had Graves Disease almost 10 years ago, and they removed 3/4 of my thyroid I take 75mcg of Levoxyl a day, that is not as much as others are taking per day, so my thyroid is still working. That is a good thing! Does Shoman agree with taking Iodine , or anyone from about.com agree with it on the Thyroid Group? What are all you others doing and what do you all think, I would truly like hearing your opinion? Thanks, Sunny > > Hi everyone, > I have been here a little while just absorbing as much info as > possible, thank you for all of your insight, but I am still a little > confused about a few things (brain fog sorry). > I don't have a doc to work with me on this so I tried the iodine > patch test, One spot that I did on my inner arm at bedtime was gone > when I woke up. Guest guest
hi sunny, the people from the thyroid group sent me to the iodine board. I find it very interesting. I just started taking multi vit with only 150 mcg of iodine in it. with alot of other recommended supplements. I read that after you start you might have to lower thyroid meds etc.. and because I am not regulated in the past 4 yrs ,I am afraid to start this if it will affect the regulation of my levels. I remember my mom saying that her grandfather used to paint their throats with iodine for sore throats and also if they sprained an ankle they would also paint their ankles. I am willing to try anyhting at this point. It seems like the people on this board have had alot of success with it. I don't seem to be getting any better with my convventional doctors ( 3 endos in 3 yrs), Im looking for number 4 since I m not going back to number 3 either. They don't seem to LISTEN to anything I am saying . Number 2 told me that my pain in my muscles was not thyroid related and had me go to a neurologist to rule out any underlying muscle disease. I am going to sit on the phone tomorrow and call every provider in my area on my insurance list and see if any of them will switch me to armour thyroid. If not im going to self treat with that too. the iodine site has alot of reading ,brain fog doesnt help when Im trying to read all the info. I just need someone to tell me what to do and Ill do it lol. kathy --- sunnysugar99 <sunnysugar@...> wrote: > Kathy I am wondering the same thing you are how much > Lugol's or > iodine are we suppose to be taking? > I had Graves Disease almost 10 years ago, and they > removed 3/4 of my > thyroid I take 75mcg of Levoxyl a day, that is not > as much as others > are taking per day, so my thyroid is still working. > That is a good > thing! > Does Shoman agree with taking Iodine , or > anyone from about.com > agree with it on the Thyroid Group? > What are all you others doing and what do you all > think, I would > truly like hearing your opinion? > Thanks, Sunny > > > > > > Hi everyone, > > I have been here a little while just absorbing as > much info as > > possible, thank you for all of your insight, but I > am still a > little > > confused about a few things (brain fog sorry). > > I don't have a doc to work with me on this so I > tried the iodine > > patch test, One spot that I did on my inner arm at > bedtime was gone > > when I woke up.
