Guest guest
Hi Janet, When I have the palps (which I have been having them bad again whilst suffering with the after effects of Swine Flu) This is my tip, I breath in deeply through my nose and let it out very slowly through my mouth, I ty to " hold " my breath slightly before letting out. I repeat this and it seems to slow the heart back down. I also count slowly whilst doing this and think slow, slow, slow. The palps are very scary but I have had different types of heart monitor which did not pick up any abnormalities. I have had conversion problems, the T4 just sent my heart madly racing every night. They have been much better since I started the T3 however. Hope this helps. Luv Stephie PS. I always found the proping up with pillows worked as you say. > >> About 2 months ago now I ended up in coronary care with atrial fibrillation, and since then I have very slowly been getting a little better. I get a phase of palps for a couple of days and a few days with hardly anything. At first it was every day, at intervals throughout the day and night. Now it is mostly at nights as I try to settle down. I find if I prop myself up into a sitting position and then gradually over about an hour I slide down into a comfortable position for sleeping I can avoid my heart going into overdrive. > > Hope this might help some people - and if anybody has any other ideas I'd be really pleased to try and see if it helps. > > > > love janet >

I am also going on a heart monitor for 24hours on thursday and am worried about it, as they say that I may have 'silent' fibrillation which I take to mean that the heart is doing bad things and that I haven't noticed. I hope they won't find anything wrong, and that I can get out of this without being pressured into further treatments !! On any account I shall wait to hear what Dr P says when I see him on saturday. I have been under pressure to take blood pressure pills, and my blood pressure was 192 over 100 and something when I went to the hospital, but this afternoon it was 104 over 76 with my little wrist thing at home. Love janet
