Guest guest
Hi. I am a 34 year old female and have been lurking in this group for a about 6 weeks. Here is the story as condensed as I can make it: 10 weeks ago I had seven dental crowns put in. Three days later I had intense pain in my gallbladder. (To my knowledge, I had never experienced any problems with my gallbladder). I went to MD, had an ultrasound--they said it was full of sludge, very inflamed walls, and blocked--and it needed to come out NOW. SO, it was removed the next day. (of course, I now wish I would have looked into the situation more). After the removal, I started having lung problems, developed pleurisy, severe fatigue, severe sinus problems (among other things). Went to an ND. He said it was caused by my crowns. Went back to dentist and found out my crowns have all kinds of metal in them (including mercury and nikel) BTW, nikel I am allergic to nikel according to allergy tests conducted when I was 8. I did not know the crowns had metal--much less nikel. I thought they were all porcelin. NOW, in the past week I have developed a very severe pain where my gallbladder was. The pain is not affected by what I eat, but hurts mostly when I lean forward. It is getting worse by the day. (another note--I have a high pain threshold) Does anyone know what this could be liver? pancreas? intestine? I am going to have my crowns removed, but am having a hard time getting into a dentist that uses naturopathic treatments. I do not want to make ANOTHER bad decision. The dentist who installed them said he would remove them, bu he does not have the equipment (not to mention the knowledge) to make sure I do not inhale the smoke from the metal. I have been back to the ND and my entire system is messed up. He has given me some all natural medicine to 'buy me some time' as he says. SO, my questions are: what do you think is the current pain is from? Do you indeed think all of this is from the crowns? Any recomendations for a dentist in Texas (preferably in the northern area)? any suggestion for the removal? anything I can take to help the situation? A few other tidbits about me--before all this happened i considered myself quite healty. I have run marathons and currently run about 40 miles per week, in addition to eating lots of fruits and veggies (but I am human and do sometimes eat the less healthy things). I do have a history of an eating disorder but maintain a normal weight now. I have two children 1 and 4 and had very healthy, uneventful pregnancies. I cannot bear the thought of having comprimised health for the rest of my life, but from what I have read I am likely to have liver trouble for the rest of my life. I am quite embarrased to even post this. I consider myself an educated person (I have a PhD in psychology) and am so MAD at myself for not researching both the dental work and gallbladder removal before I had the procedures done. Any suggestions, support, insight is very appreciated!! -jonna
