Guest guest
The saga continues! I have been feeling pretty awful again since mid November and have piled on 1st 2 1b since the beginning of December with no dietary changes. I found out yesterday that my endocrinologist (member of the TBA) has discharged me as I am officially normal. I would point out that he'd discharged me a few months before my latest blood test but I hadn't realised at the time and was wondering why my follow-up appointment hadn't arrived. So looks like I'm back in the hands of my GP again. The possibly good news is that the endo has retired and will be replaced by an as yet unnamed new person. If the GP decides to re- refer me now my TSH is back over 5.5 again, I'm going to make damn sure that I improve my chances of getting proper treatment by researching the endo first. If I'm not convinced then I'll try to get referred to the NHS chap in Luton and Dunstable someone recommended to me. The really good news is my Ferritin levels have risen from 30 to 52 thanks to 2 and a half months worth of galfer liquid. I am SO glad I argued that I won the arguement to try a liquid iron formula. The endo had wanted me to have a duodenal biopsy as he wanted to find out why I wasn't absorbing iron. I've never ben able to absorb iron from pills but had had success with spatone, so I knew the problem wasn't my duodenum! I am so relieved that I have spared myself an unnecessary surgical procedure AND saved the NHS money probably! I'm possibly getting a full print-out of my blood tests tomorrow. There was something stamped on my records that the GP's permission was needed before they could be released to me. I think there was some abnormality which he may need to discuss with me :-{ Tracey
