Hi all,

As many of you know, I was banded by Dr. Montgomery on 5/5/05 and have

lost 73 pounds of the 105 extra tonnage I've been lugging around for

more years than I care to admit. My journey with the Lap-Band has been

an easy one and I've enjoyed every phase except for the vomiting

episodes. Looking back, each time I've vomited has been directly

attributed to an error I've made; eating too big a bite, not chewing

enough, eating too quickly. I've learned from these annoying mistakes so

all is not lost.

The band has so dramatically dimmed my appetite that I'm waiting to

awaken from the dream. As someone who has spent thousands on Weight

Watchers (memberships, cookbooks, electronic points calculators, fancy

food scales, monthly memberships to the WW web site) and has lost and

gained hundreds of pounds over the course of my 56 years, all I ever

wanted was to rid myself of my voracious appetite.

The band has done just that.

It's a miracle.

I'm one who likes to experiment as long as the results don't

permanently maim or kill me. I've been a model Bandster for over 8

months and today I felt it was time to experiment. My husband is out of

town on business and I had some shopping to do. It was late afternoon, I

had been busy all day and had only had a few cups of coffee and was

getting hungry. I decided to go to Safeway and wandered past the

Chinese food deli. Before banding, one of my favorite meals was General

Tao's Chicken and I'd eat the whole platter complete with rice. The

General's Chicken would certainly be a good experiment, wouldn't it? I

bought a regular arsenal of healthy and band-friendly foods then ordered

some General's Chicken to go.

As soon as I got home, I put a few pieces of chicken and a small lump of

rice on a salad plate. What a treat this would be! I ate a few bites of

the chicken and it somehow didn't excite me as it once did. I took a few

bites of the rice and chewed like a demon. I swallowed. It went down. I

was full. I didn't want any more. Can that be right? I didn't want any more?

The thrill is gone.

What a thrill!

Debbie
