Guest guest
Hi Dave, I am in the process of finding out (or at least trying to) if it is low acidity. I am doing some apple cider vinegar (just a capful) in water 1 or 2 times daily to see if that helps. So far, it seems to. We'll see, thanks for sharing. ----- Original Message ----- From: Dave Shelden gallstones Sent: Sunday, September 30, 2007 1:34 PM Subject: Re: no gallbladder and need supplements Hi , Is this the same GI doc that told you having your gallbladder removed would cure your GERD? You can take supplemental bile a, lecithin, and lipase enzymes will all help with the digestion of fats, however if it is bile refluxing this may exacerbate the proble. It may not ever have been a bile problem to begin with. Sounds like the doc is guessing. Think twice, thrice, a thousand times before taking the PPIs (protein pump inhibitors) (prilocec, prevacid, the little purple pill, etc.) that they probably already have you on! They will really screw up your digestion. You may be, and it may always have been, low acidity. Think about finding an alternative practitioner that knows what they are doing. -Dave ----- Original Message ----- From: marytomblinhope<mailto:mary40@...> gallstones <mailto:gallstones > Sent: Saturday, September 29, 2007 10:12 PM Subject: no gallbladder and need supplements Hi all, Thank you for allowing me in your group. I had my gallbladder removed in 2001. They said I would have no more GERD if I did this. They were WRONG! I suffer from acid reflux/GERD daily. The GI doctor thinks it may be bile salts coming up and refluxing. I try to eat low fat but sometimes cannot. Are there any supplements that I should be taking to help w/all of this since I have no gallbladder to do the work for me? Thanks,
Guest guest
The simple test for low HCL concentrations is to buy betaine HCL (cheap) and start low working your way up. If you have no problems or relief of symptoms with say , half a tablet then continue to increase meal by meal until you experience discomfort. Then back off to no discomfort. It is very common because of the nature of HCL production to use it for a while at a specific amount and then have problems as your body starts to produce it properly in which case you continue to decrease the dose until you are completely off of it. all the best, -D ----- Original Message ----- From: mary40@...<mailto:mary40@...> gallstones <mailto:gallstones > Sent: Sunday, September 30, 2007 7:38 PM Subject: Re: no gallbladder and need supplements--Dave Hi Dave, I am in the process of finding out (or at least trying to) if it is low acidity. Guest guest
You can buy pH test strips from health food stores or pharmacies. Guest guest
Ph test strips will not be effective. The standard medical test would be the Heidleberg but it is terribly inacurrate at times. the simple trial and error test I listed is by far the best if you do not have access to some type of non protocol based method. -D ----- Original Message ----- From: Amber <mailto:amber@...> gallstones <mailto:gallstones > Sent: Wednesday, October 03, 2007 6:21 AM Subject: Re: no gallbladder and need supplements--Dave You can buy pH test strips from health food stores or pharmacies.
