Guest guest
Hi , Is this the same GI doc that told you having your gallbladder removed would cure your GERD? You can take supplemental bile a, lecithin, and lipase enzymes will all help with the digestion of fats, however if it is bile refluxing this may exacerbate the proble. It may not ever have been a bile problem to begin with. Sounds like the doc is guessing. Think twice, thrice, a thousand times before taking the PPIs (protein pump inhibitors) (prilocec, prevacid, the little purple pill, etc.) that they probably already have you on! They will really screw up your digestion. You may be, and it may always have been, low acidity. Think about finding an alternative practitioner that knows what they are doing. -Dave ----- Original Message ----- From: marytomblinhope<mailto:mary40@...> gallstones <mailto:gallstones > Sent: Saturday, September 29, 2007 10:12 PM Subject: no gallbladder and need supplements Hi all, Thank you for allowing me in your group. I had my gallbladder removed in 2001. They said I would have no more GERD if I did this. They were WRONG! I suffer from acid reflux/GERD daily. The GI doctor thinks it may be bile salts coming up and refluxing. I try to eat low fat but sometimes cannot. Are there any supplements that I should be taking to help w/all of this since I have no gallbladder to do the work for me? Thanks,
Guest guest
, I'm sorry about your GERD problem. I still have my gallbladder but have numerous small stones. I take BileMin by Apex Labs every day. This product is formulated for those who have sluggish gallbladders and, I believe, even for those without gallbladders. One supplement that many take is A-F Beta Food. I am unable to take that because my GERD is too strong for that supplement. I don't know if it's appropriate for those without gallbladders, but it may be. I think BileMin is a bit gentler, but it definitely helps me and I can tolerate it. I wonder if it would help your GERD to take a digestive enzyme at the beginning of your meal. That's what my holistic MD recommended, and my naturopath, too. I think it helps. I take the Trace Nutrients brand, which is also pretty gentle. Best of luck, Margh ----- Original Message ----- From: marytomblinhope gallstones Sent: Sunday, September 30, 2007 1:12 AM Subject: no gallbladder and need supplements Hi all, Thank you for allowing me in your group. Guest guest
, The sad thing is Doctors don't really know what to do for this problem yet it is so simple. The problem is you dont have enough Hydrochloric acid in the stomach. Yes, I know there is acid back up but still it is a lack of HCL in the stomach. Get some and take it with your foods each time you eat and see if it does not help solve the problem. I know I used to have indigestion and now I rarely have it. I am careful to take my digestaide with my meals and I dont have it. Plus if you change your diet to include more raw fruits and vegetables and nuts and seeds instead of cooked food you will do better too. Try this and see if it does not help. Bile back up, maybe, but that is not HCL. You can get HCL/Betine at the health food stores. Because I am vegetarian and I get mine from a dr in Round Rock Texas. I really like them too. Here is the contact information on him for you. Dr Bob Marshall Healthline 2000 N. Mays Street, Suite 126 Round Rock, TX 78664 Phone (800)370-3447 Regards, > > Hi all, > Thank you for allowing me in your group. I had my gallbladder removed > in 2001. Guest guest
I know this is so hard for people to believe (my husband included), but this information is absolutely correct. As we age, we have less stomach acid, so we really need the digestive enzymes, not an acid blocker. Amber , The sad thing is Doctors don't really know what to do for this problem yet it is so simple.
