Guest guest
Hi all, Well I managed to see my gp this morning and he took blood for the fasting blood sugar test the consultant asked for yesterday. I also got the prescriptions for 2 new BP meds, Valsartan and Amlodipine. When I realised late last night that Amlodipine is in the same class of meds as Nifedipine I was wary as I was prescribed Nif a few years ago as they thought I had Raynauds, I think it must have been the start of the hypothyroid probs, every time I took it I went scarlet, my head hurt so much it felt like it would explode and then I threw up. Needless to say I only took it a few times then just put up with how my hands were. Then I got the carpal tunnel. My gp assured me that Amlodipine is different in its reactions and I have taken it today to no ill effect. I go back to the nurse for a BP check in 2 weeks and then the gp nearly 2 weeks after that. Here's hoping and praying that when the blood sugar results come back they don't want me taking something for that too. JenM
