Guest guest
I'm no expert, and no medical person, but I'd say it sounds like a stretched pouch, but imagine could be a slip. From what I know when people have slips they normally can't eat at all as things gotten twisted up and shut down. Let us know what the docs say. dan Monday, January 21, 2008, 5:00:03 PM, you wrote: > I saw his films also and > it looks like his band is at the bottom of his stomach with a larger upper stomach and a > smaller lower one; completely opposite of what we should have. Guest guest
I'm not so concerned ith your husband, a I am with you, fom wht you describe. the barium should go down right away. Thee should neve be 5-minute delay. You sound as if you have a way-too-tight fill and possibly other things as well, like a dilated pouch. The last thing you need, if so, is another fill. If you're dilated, you'll need an unfill and rest period so the stmach can hopefully go back into a good position. Your doc will read the films and discuss any problems with you. Lay people really can't know what is going on from seeing a film. Mot radiologists would not even know, since banding is such a specialty area. When we have a very high fill level, as you both have, we must be very careful not to eat more than 1-1.5 cups of food per meal. This is what causes dilations, when we have a tight (usually too tight) fill. As time goes on, our esophaguses can get used to the band pressure and not give reliable " stop " signs - or we learn to ignore tham - and we then have to self-limit meals to a good bandster portion, whether or not we " can " eat more. The band is designed as a gentle reminder to eat reasonably, not a hammer over the head to MAKE us stop eating. good luck - let us know how you are. Sandy R > > > Good evening everyone Today my hubby and I (both banded with VG and at 9cc each) had our upper GIs done. It took about 5 minutes before my barium swallow would go down like they needed, but it did go down. I saw my films and saw my band. It looks like it is where it should be, but of course the tech couldn't say anything. I asked how my husband had done (he was done right before me) and they said he did fine, but his band looked very low on his stomach and the barium went right down. I saw his films also and it looks like his band is at the bottom of his stomach with a larger upper stomach and a smaller lower one; completely opposite of what we should have. Does this sound like a slip? He can eat very large portions, but stops when he is full. His eating is nearly what it was pre-op. Our doc will view the report and I'm taking her the films on Wednesday when my fill is scheduled. I was just wondering about the possibility of hubby having slipped. Guest guest
This is exactly what a slipped band looks like and I ended up having to have surgery to reposition it. The unfill did not work. Dan Lester <honu@...> wrote: I'm no expert, and no medical person, but I'd say it sounds like a stretched pouch, but imagine could be a slip.
