Guest guest
I'm new to this group and would like to know if anyone out there has chosen to have their gall bladder removed. If yes, have there been any side effects to the surgery? I have been to doctor after doctor and they have different opinions of what is wrong with me. I have extreme diarrea and constipation, and abdominal pain. I had my surgery 7 years ago, and as I treat my symptoms, it will switch to the other extreme. If anyone has any advice please help me. Guest guest
Hi Tom, I take it from your post that you had your gallbladder removed 7 years ago and now have the below symptoms. As you try and treat the diarrhea you become constipated and if you try and treat the constipation you have diarrhea. Has anyone mentioned Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Crone's, or colitis? Have they done stool samples for pathogen's? Do you have mucous in your stool? Bubbles or froth when you have diarrhea? Any white, webby, stringy stuff? Yes, there can be side effects from having your gallbladder removed but this does not mean that the symptoms you have are side effects from your surgery. If they are, and they could be, then taking bile and digestive enzymes when you eat anything with fats or oils will help. If not then the actual cause needs to be determined. It is also not uncommon for someone to have symptoms, have their gallbladder removed, and not have the symptoms clear up (gallbladder was not the cause even though suspect and stones present). How long have you had the below symptoms? The same intensity from the start or have they gotten worse? Are you on PPIs (protein pump inhibitors)? Belching? Gas? Distention? Nausea? Burning? Heavy alcohol consumption? Lung issues? Heart palpitations? You cannot go wrong with taking a good quality digestive enzyme (containing lipases, amylases, and proteases) whenever you eat and adding probiotics; no matter what the cause to start. Valerian, licorice, apricot pit will help with the cramping no matter what. If this has been going on for 7 years it is serious _____, pardon the pun. It must be gotten under control and at the cause not just the symptoms. Treating just the symptoms without correcting the digestive problem is dangerous whether done with natural supplements or pharmaceuticals. ----- Original Message ----- From: cooleytomcnaughton<mailto:cooleytomcnaughton@...> gallstones <mailto:gallstones > Sent: Tuesday, January 08, 2008 9:38 AM Subject: problems worsen after surgery!!
