Guest guest
Stacey, Sorry to hear that you have to have another surgery. I'm not sure what to tell you about managing the pain. Please call your doctor and see what he advises. You surely shouldn't have to live in this horrible pain until you get the surgery done. Here's a few links about both the laparascopic and traditional gall bladder removal surgeries. Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy from the National Institutes of Health http://odp.od.nih.gov/consensus/cons/090/090_statement.htm Laparoscopy Cholecystectomy Bolton, MD, presents a pictorial tutorial of the process. A cholecystectomy is the surgical removal of the gallbladder. http://www.yourhealth.com/ahl/2154.html UW CVES LAPAROSCOPIC CHOLECYSTECTOMY http://depts.washington.edu/cves/lapchol.html Hope this helps. a -----Original Message----- From: Stacey T [mailto:StaceyT@...] Sent: Wednesday, May 23, 2001 8:50 PM Subject: [ ] Gall bladder Hi everyone, it has been a while since I have written. I have just gotten really busy with work and stuff. I just found out that I am going to have to have my gallbladder out asap. I know, I just recuperate from Carpal Tunnel Release and now this. If it isn't one thing, its another... I have been in excruciating pain since Sunday and got in to see my Dr yesterday. I had blood drawn yesterday afternoon and by 7:30 am this morning my doctor was already trying to get a hold of me. My liver tests were very high. She sent me for an ultrasound this morning and called me 2 hours later and said it was my gall bladder. Now I just have to wait for her referral to a surgeon to go through, which she said could take a couple of weeks. Now if I can just withstand this pain until then... She said to eat a lot of small meals rather than anything big, and to stick with non fat. Does anyone have any other suggestions on how to handle the pain until I have surgery? Also, has anyone had this surgery and how was it? I am not sure which I will be having, the Laproscopic or the traditional. I am assuming that since I am overweight that I may not be a candidate for the Laproscopic method? Thank you so much!! Take care, Stacey -- _______________________________________________ Get your free email from http://www.mail.com
Guest guest
Stacey, Sorry to hear about your latest challenge - your misbehaving gallbladder! a sent you some excellent links. I agree with her; you can't possibly be expected to be in pain for a few weeks while you wait for the surgery. Please contact your doctor and tell her just how severe your pain is and ask for help. Here is a link that talks about gallbladder problems in an emergency room setting. It does mention some drugs that can help: http://www.emedicine.com/emerg/topic98.htm Good luck. I hope you either get a earlier surgery date or some medication that can help make you comfortable. ----- Original Message ----- From: " Stacey T " <StaceyT@...> < > Sent: Wednesday, May 23, 2001 7:50 PM Subject: [ ] Gall bladder > Hi everyone, it has been a while since I have written. Guest guest
Thanks a! These links are great! I called my doctor because the pain got so bad. But all they did was prescribe some pain. I finally got a call from the surgeon I was referred to and they can see me for the consultation on Friday. I guess if the pain gets too unbearable I will just have to go to the ER. Guest guest
Thanks ! I did call my dr but they still couldn't see me any earlier for the consultation. They gave me a prescription for Darvocet though. Don't know how that will work. Guest guest
Dear from WI, Hi there. I was born and raised in Wisconsin! My parents and some of my siblings still live there. Now I live in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The pain in the pit of your stomach between your lower ribs isn't near your gall bladder, which is located near the large part of the liver towards your right side. Since the pain is located in your stomach I would say it is caused by candida overgrowing in your stomach which also causes bloating and gas, esp. since you got it after eating avocado. Avocado is high in carbs and should be eaten in small amounts, if any. Pain does radiate to the back from the stomach. You will do better on the strict candida diet, mostly meats and " good " fats, with low carbs. My stomach was my weakest spot when I had candida, and it was imperative that I eat very very low carbs. Doublecheck the list of veggies that are high in carbs and eat plenty of meat or eggs. For my height of 5'6 " I need 68 grams of protein per day with 54 grams of carbs and 170-238 grams of good fat, according to the Optimal Diet proportions. Sometimes taking nystatin when your stomach hurts helps; you can even take less more often. But I took nystatin powder and it is more versatile and can be regulated better. There is no need to rotate antifungals my friend. I know how many others say it is necessary, but it isn't at all, and can often cost more money and be difficult to monitor. I took nystatin powder the entire 2 1/2 years when I cured my candida. IMO Oil of Oregano and raw garlic are better than GSE. Coconut oil is very important as an antifungal as well and is very important for health! Bee > What do you know about the gall bladder. It is the worst part of my situation, and gets so painful sometimes that I almost can't stay standing, and is even sensitive if you lightly touch the skin. The stomach becomes distended and bulges out and feels very tight and swollen. Sometimes this accompanied by reflux, sometimes not. I have other symptoms of candida as well. I have had every kind of test, gall bladder was fine and no sign of any major problem, the doctor just says " I don't know " and then I get the bill. When I found out about candida (no thanks to my doctor) I cut out all carbs, dairy, etc, and started taking lots of coconut oil, caprylic acid, oil of oregano, gse, pau d'arco, garlic, ten days ago. I started feeling better, but after three days I had a " relapse " I think this might have been " die-off " because now I feel great, and I feel like, maybe I am getting this thing under control. Also I have lost 8 lbs, so thats good too. -Moon

But please know that carbs include any foods are not considered protein or fats, so that includes fruits, veggies, grains, etc. You are taking a lot of things that kill off candida (possibly too much), so it may be time to also take probiotics, i.e. cabbage rejuvelac or non-dairy based acidophilus. They might also help your stomach problem. It sounds like you might have a hiatus hernia, which I have as well. It is where part of the stomach pushes up between the esophagus and the diaphram, causing the valve to the esophagus to open. That causes lumps in the area you described and also acid reflux. I can manually push mine in place by massaging downward around the ribs on each side of the breast bone. If that is the case you need to be careful about not lifting wrong and bending over from the waist - always bend your knees. I used to get attacks whenever I moved from one home to another. A naturopath finally diagnosed it correctly. He also did accupressure treatments which put it in place. Unfortunately that area was weakened by candida which I had for over 25 years before curing it, so it doesn't stay in place. Also you could elevate the foot of your bed by about 5 inches with wood blocks. If you are sick in the night use pillows to prop up the top part of your body. I have checked into the hiatus hernia, which was my first fear when this whole thing started. According to my doctor, whose opinion I will take with a grain of salt, I do not have this, but do have a slight separation between the left and right outer muscles in the front of my abdomen, a condition usually only seen in pregnant women or premature babies, and in the case of the premature babies it supposedly goes away. (I forget the clinical name for this right now) I was 4 weeks premature so maybe its true and it never went away? I don't know. I'm a 43 year old male, and I never had a problem with this until about 3 years ago. Other sypmtoms have been with me since I was a teen on antibiotics for acne. My doctor told me the stomach separation thing was nothing to worry about and that doing ab excercises would help, but I am wary, and when pushed further he bacame evasive. Any way, the diet and antifungals seem to be doing the trick. Losing 8 pounds in under two weeks has been a nice fringe benefit, and my energy level is way up. -Moon

Re- experiencing something isn't the same as when you went through it the first time either; it's more like " a copy it it. " > I am going to the health food store tomorrow to buy supplements and > trying to understand if the prescribed supplements are for everyone, reguardless of their body. ==>Yes, all of the supplements are for everyone, since they work together with the diet to provide all of the nutrients the body needs in order to heal itself. Every human body requires exactly the same set of nutrients in order to heal and maintain health, which is according to Dr. Weston A. Price's research and book " Nutrition and Physical Degeneration " - you can buy a copy of it through my website at Wilderness Family Naturals (see the ad at the bottom of every page).
