Guest guest
A new article by Guy Abraham, MD, claims megadosing on calcium (2,000-3000 mg a day) has been the most common cause of poor response in those taking iodine. He feels calcium is easily toxic and impairs magnesium absorption and thus iodine's effectiveness. (See Vitamin Research News Feb 2008) LynneDelicious ideas to please the pickiest eaters. I've never known an adult woman to get this much calcium through diet, supps or a combination of both. Maybe some young men who drink a LOT of milk - these are not usually the guys taking high iodine supps. This is not adding up for me. Guest guest
Does this include people with low blood calcium? I have to take a lot of calcium because my parathyroids were damaged.
Guest guest
, the bottle of ATP co-factors says to take one to three a day...what do u suggest? I have taken B-complex 100's in the past. Do you also suggest to add B-complex to this since isolating any of the B vitamins could produce a deficiency in one of the others? And can you tell me the size of the 50 mg tablet of Iodoral? I asked the guy at the vitamin place but he couldn't tell me so I ordered the 12.5 tablets since I already knew they are rather small and easy to swallow but it looks like buying the 50mgs tablets would be a bit cheaper. I have trouble swallowing larger tablets. Delicious ideas to please the pickiest eaters. Watch the video on AOL Living.
Guest guest
ATP Cofactors has only been available to the public for about 6 mos. I have been on it for over a year because I am in Dr. Abraham's study of cancer and iodine. It is nothing more than a specific combination of B2 & B3 vitamins. It enhances ATP function in the cell thus increasing metabolism. Many feel an immediate increase in energy when starting to take it. I did not. Steph Re: Re:Too Much Calcium Impairs Iodine Metabolism , how much calcium do you take? I take up to 2,000 at times. Average maybe 1800 mg per day..it says not to take 2-3,000 mgs per day. It interferes with absorption of iodine. They say to focus more on magnesium than calcium. Does everyone here take the ATP co-factors along w/ the iodine or is that a recent discovery? I have started taking iodine today and the ATP cofactors. Delicious ideas to please the pickiest eaters. Watch the video on AOL Living. Guest guest
Well .. yes, I would do something different if my bone density was showing a decline. It is a big concern for myself (and sister's) because of mom's osteoporosis. But, because of the very high levels of calcium that reflected on my tests and also the definite "improvement" that showed up in that second bone density test, it allowed me to breath a little easier and be assured that I am following the correct path for me .. at this time. Not to get off topic here .. but that said, is there any other type of "better" (for us more health conscious folks) type of test that I can have done to follow my bone density levels? Guest guest
Thanks Steph for your reply. I guess I knew I had read about it earlier, but did not take the time to do a search on this. I'm thinking that I will have to ask Dr. B about this the next time I talk to or see him. Now that you mention it, I do remember reading about high hair calcium levels indicating high mercury. But .. what about the high calcium serum levels? Thanks! Gloladybugsandbees <ladybugsandbees@...> wrote: It is OPTIMOX's B2/B3 combo http://www.vrp.com/ProductPage.aspx?ProdID=9145 Dr. B had me on it for a while. It seems to help most hashi's folks have more energy. I believe it is high calcium in the hair that signifies a mineral transport issue due to mercury toxicity according to Andy Cutler. The magnesium will help with your calcium absorption in the bones. I also recently read that strontium is a good bone mineral. Re: Re:Too Much Calcium Impairs Iodine Metabolism What is "ATP co-factors"? I haven't been tested for about a year, but up through last year, I ALWAYS showed "off the charts" in my calcium levels. This is with the hair analysis AND blood tests. I have not taken a calcium supplement in a long time. (And I can't/don't eat/drink dairy!) I was told, after my first bone density test, that it was "good" .. there was a little bit of deterioration (not sure I have my terminology correct here) .. but for my age it was fine. Bone density is an issue for me because my mom has some osteoporosis. So I do try to keep on eye on it. Best, Glo
Guest guest
i should have been more specific...sorry.... what i meant was...would you take any of the RXes available? fosomax, etc. I guess I assume the health conscious folks are doing the things they should be...for healthy bones....and so just wonder why someone would get a bone density test if they weren't going to take an Rx anyway....and also keeping in mind that it's normal to lose bone density as we age...that it's not a disease. so that being said...if you're one who would not take an Rx (being health conscious and knowing they are not good for you)...what would you change that you aren't doing now? I'm just honestly curious here... cindi > > Well .. yes, I would do something different if my bone density was showing a decline. Guest guest
I took 2 of the ATP CoFactors when I took them. They are a larger pill so keep that in mind. The 50 mg Iodoral are larger too. It's hard to describe them. They are scored though so you can split them in half. I have done that when my hubby was on a lower dose. I took a B100 complex with it to stay in balance and also did B12 injections.
