....but does neuralgia cause such swelling, and redness around your eye ?? I have found the following that might help as regards treatment http://www.neurosurgery.pitt.edu/imageguided/trigeminal_neuralgia.html. What did the hospital suggest you do - just put up with it. I can't believe there is no treatment that would help you.

I went to an emergency Dr today regarding my eye.I have been told its neuralga!!Given nothing, just got to put up with it.Been looking on the internet, but all it says is sharp stabbing pains not a boring pain. I'm more at a loss now!!

Thanks for the link.

The Dr said there is no bacterial infection so no anti biotics

needed, and that was about it. She said to ease the redness, E45!

My eyes ache, and are tired, straning too much I suppose. Should I

take lots of vit A???

I just don't know anymore to be honest. Its putting a big strain on

my partner, I know that!

Hi ,

I just don't get this I'm afraid. You say you've got redness and

soreness, are your actual eyes red: surface of eye or eyelids? Have

you been using any drops to treat the problem?

I've just been looking at this site:

http://www.patient.co.uk/showdoc/23068947/

which doesn't seem to mention inflammation or redness although it

sounds like a horrible condition that I wouldn't wish on anyone. Also

there is a treatment available so being told to live with it doesn't

seem very fair if you do actually have neuralgia.

Thanks Chris

WHEW! I was worried for a moment wondering if the weeks of work I have spent in writing the paper on Armour was to no avail.

They have updated their Statement on Armour after I wrote to them in response. They told me there was not enough evidence in my comments to make them change their Statement, apart from me pointing out to them that those people using Armour COULD get all their prescriptions free of charge. They agreed they would change this part of their statement, and this they did. As far as I can see, not one thing more has been changed, but I havent looked at either closely. I have now completed my response to the Statement on Armour, and now have 153 references to back up my comments - against their ONE reference to back up all of their statement.

However, I have commented on their mistake and even though they have now removed it, I am leaving it in my response because this is going to the DoH, all endocrinologists and eveyr PCT so they can see that the BTA actually do not do the research they should.

Hi Sheila

Its a completely naff statement giving no substansive reasons why it

should not be used, I notice it still says about the cost, and I

still reckon this is the real reason.

Hi Sheila

Mum and the girls didn't ask for a referral but we are going to now

just for our GP's info.

Imogen's TPO was 19.3 well under the range they use...<50 is

negative, 50-75 borderline and 75> positive. We don;t have anything

else back for her yet...maybe tomorrow.

The tests were only £41 each in total so well worth doing.

> You ARE Hashimoto's whatever is said. Any antibodies makes you

Hashimoto's and I bet it runs through your family.

**I don't have any doubt Sheila, but was wondering if you knew

whether the results would have been higher if I hadn't already been

medicated.

> Your Free t4 is far too low, but I wouldn't lower your Armour, you

just need to add a little L-thyroxine like me. I take 25 mcgs L-

thyroxine dialy added to my 3 grains of Armour and it made all the

difference to me.

**I am going back to see my GP now and will be interested in hearing

what he has to say. He asked for 'thyroid' tests though exactly what

I still don't know. I DO know my TSH will be supressed of course. I

asked him to prescribe Armour but he refused and I guess he won't

want to give me thyroxine either though these results might just

convince him.....yep! in my dreams!!

>Your FT3 could do with being a bit higher, so obviously, you are not

yet on the right dose. Once you get your adrenals sorted though, this

could well make a difference, because if your adrenals are not up to

scratch, your body is unable to absorb the thyroid hormone

replacement it needs.

**ok...what do you think I should do first though...add in the

thyroxine or up my Armour dose....? Where do you get your thyroxine

from...will I be able to buy it? I will be able to use a little of

's to start with but not for long as the doc's will no doubt

soon catch on:) I am now on 2 NAE daily so need to wait a week or so

before changing anything else don't 1?

Thanks Sheila...and for your patience and kindness to us at the clinic

love

Ria
