Guest guest
Hi Dave, just want to say a huge thank you for letting me know about nutmeg for high blood pressure. My pressure had been in the 140's over 80's for a good while, and I kept taking all the recommended herbals, trying to walk everyday, lose some weight, etc. And while I think all of the above probably kept it from going higher, I wasn't very successful at getting it much lower. And I had headaches, not bad ones, but enough to let me know that my pressure wasn't where it needed to be. Took my pressure today and it is 120/73! Doesn't get much better than that. And I am just doing better over all. Thank you again so much. Just out of curiosity, can you tell me what it is that nutmeg does in the body to lower pressure? By the way, I joined a blood pressure group like this one and I must say they are not near as helpful, nor as patient with newbies. Their standard answer to scared newbies with questions is " look in the archives " . So I also want to say how much I appreciate the caring on this group. Thanks again to all. Guest guest
How much nutmeg are you taking. I haven't paid much attention to this thread, so am sorry to ask you to repeat it. My husband has high blood pressure and you have my attention now. Would you mind repeating what you did to get yours lower. Thank you, Karma ----- Original Message ----- From: loglady33 gallstones Sent: Thursday, March 27, 2008 4:47 PM Subject: Nutmeg--great stuff! Guest guest
Glad to hear you are doing so well. I am assuming that the volatile oils in nutmeg stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system which would in turn potentially lower blood pressure. In Ayurveda it is a " satva " : it deadens the mind (shuts up the voices). A lot of people who have high blood pressure are type " A " and therefore have a lot of anger and frustration (not all!). By the way a lot of people who have high blood pressure have it because of liver/gallbladder congestion. Not a cardio issue just a symptom. In five element theory, liver and gallbladder are wood, heart and small intestine are fire. To much wood and the fire gets to big. Cool, huh? Reduce the wood (sedate the liver) and the fire goes down. While this is a difficult model for you and me to grasp as western educated individuals, the proof again is does it work?... Yep. -Dave ----- Original Message ----- From: loglady33<mailto:sunny3@...> gallstones <mailto:gallstones > Sent: Thursday, March 27, 2008 2:47 PM Subject: Nutmeg--great stuff!
