Just to add more fodder to the herbal remedy issue: There is a World

Congress on Anesthesiology next month in Montreal and a Dr. Alan Kaye of

Texas Tech School of Medicine will be presenting a paper on herbal

supplement use in this country. While I have only read the abstract, 20%

of the population (USA) use herbal supplements and 70% do not tell their

doctors about the supplements they take. According to Dr. Kaye, there

have been fatal complications when these supplements combine with

traditiuonal prescription medications.

If your supplements help, than by all means take them but you MUST tell

your doctor (and probably your pharmacist) what you are taking to avoid

dangerous, and potentially fatal, interactions. Let the battle continue.

Hello ,

There are a lot of useful info in the files section of this group.

Check this out: http://home.earthlink.net/~moriam/

You could start oral DMSA in a couple of weeks if you do NOT have

dental amalgams. You need to start supplementing some vitamins,

minerals, antioxidants for a couple of weeks before starting

chelation. Check the above site to see the list of supplements and

dosage info.

How old are your kids? Do not wait too long, the younger they are the

better.

I have never heard of DMSA shots. Oral DMSA works well.

Yes, you need to get all your amalgams oout before starting any

chelation process. Go check the files, you will have find info on

things you can do right before and during the removal. Then you can

start DMSA a few days after. Then ALA, 3 months after.

The reason is that it might somehow " pull out " the metal from the

amalgams and you will get even more toxic! I am not the right person

to explain this, I do not have amalgams and never had, but I read a

lot about it on this list. You can check the archived messages.

Thank you again ,

I have copied this exact information from the files and I will take

it to my Dr. and ask him about this. He did tell me he didn't want

to have the fillings removed just yet. Maybe I heard wrong about the

shots. I will definately have to clear this up with him before I go

any further.

I highly recommend kelp but I had a problem tolerating tyrosine. However

many people love it. I think you would see a greater improvement if you

got off the $ynthroid!

What problems did you see with tyrosine? And how much kelp is

recommended? I am optimistic to see how these two supplements help.

I am hoping they will also help with metabolism - aiding in my

weight loss efforts

I'm not one to buy into the herbal supplements and witch potions. That's just

me though. I believe that if a person leads a healthy life with eating

properly, exercising regularly, and regular lab checks they will find that they

don't need to buy into all those supplements.

Just my thoughts on it though. lol

Good luck to you,

Becca

This comes from my favorite herbal book called " Prescriptions for Herbal

Healing "

peppermint(1)

enteric-coated oil capsules. Take 200 mg 3x day relieves mild spasms of

the bile duct

prickly ash(2)

apply as a plaster as needed. Temp relieves pain and spasms of the bile

ducts.

Alfalfa

Tablets or capsules. Take 1,000 mg with a glass of warm water 2x day.

Cleanses liver and supplies necessary vitamins and minerals.

Boldo(3)

Tea(loose), prepared by steeping 1 teaspoon in 1 cup of water. Take 3x

day. Stimulates bile production, flush small gallstones out of the

ducts.

Gentian(4)

Bitters capsules. Take as directed. Relieves inflammation; stimulates

bile production.

Greater celandine(3)

Tincture. Take 15-30 drops in 1/4 cup of water 3x day. Stimulates

bile production; relieves bile-duct spasms.

Milk thistle(3)

Silymarin gel-caps. Take 600mg daily. lowers cholesterol production in

liver.

Soy lecithin(3)

Capsules. Take 2,000mg daily. Reduces cholesterol production in liver.

Turmeric

Curcumin tablets. Take 125mg 3x daily. Inhibits formation of

cholesterol crystals.

precautions:

(1) peppermint should be used only during mild spasms. Do not use it

when symptoms are absent, because it may slow the passage of bile.

(2) Do not take prickly ash internally.

(3) Boldo, greater calandine, milk thistle, and soy lecithin can cause

mild diarrhea.

(4) Do not use gentian if you have diarrhea.

This book mentions drinking one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in a

glass of apple juice to relieve pain.

If anyone has any more to add feel free.

> I just read in another post that we are not suppose to take herbal supplements

while on this program. Is this correct? I have not read that from the

information on the website. (so far)

> I currently take many herbs to help balance my Vata body type. (Vacha, Brahmi,

Jatamansi, Amalaki, Neem, Holy Basil etc...) The herbs are blended into capsules

following Ayurvedic principles.

+++Hi Carolyn. That is correct. The reason you don't want to take herbs and

other supplements is because " proper nutrients " (the combination of diet plus

supplements) are what heals your body. Anything else you take will overwhelm

your body and interfere with natural healing processes, except for those taken

for short periods of time as an assistance.

I've had many consultations with people who weren't progressing like they

should, and the main reason is because they are taking too many other things

and/or overdoing treatments. More is not better! Just consistently provide

your body with the " proper nutrients " and it will do its job the way Nature

intended.

All the best, Bee
