Guest guest
If anyone needs excellent dental work at about 1/3 or less US prices, email me for info and a referral form. I just had some very excellent dental work done by a highly-experienced, delightful fellow with perfect English. As usual, i did a lot of homework before choosing him. Crowns are prepped one day, the crown made overnight, and then placed the next day. Full mouth veneers, for instance, can be done in 4 days or so. I'd really encourage people to get those old mercury-leaching metals fillingds replaced too. zoom whitening is about 1/3 the US price. You all know how picky I am, and i don't give recommendations lightly! He also will give a further discount to my referrals, since I'll be writing some stuff for him. He also will complete ins forms so your dental ins will reimburse you - so you can have things completeed in a few days rather than a few weeks or months. Plane fare, hotel (special price), meals, all work are tax=deductable too - have a nice deductible MX vacation with great dental work! Guest guest
I am having dental work done in Costa Rica. Had implants and a sinus rebuild done last Nov and am going back for the post and crown. Even with two trips it is a lot less, about 1/3 there also. Are all medical procedures performed overseas tax deductible? I didn't know that. Guest guest
Yup, medical and dental care that is for health is all tax deductible, to the extent your personal situation allows. Band surgery too, whether done in thr US, MX, Europe or wherever. this means plan fare, hotel, meals medical/dental fees, etc. - and also a travel comopanion to help you with your " major surgery. " See the IRS puiblications - it's all clearly spelled out and 1000% legal. I love CR and had some plastic surgery there 4 yrs ago - excellent medical and dental care. Guest guest
All medical procedures (at least those that are legal, which these certainly are) are deductible except for cosmetic surgery. Reconstructive surgery is deductible (such as if you're in a terrible accident and need reconstruction of your face, etc). It can be argued that a lower body lift or other major procedures after a large weight loss are reconstructive and necessary for your well being. Basically, I'd claim it and fight the IRS in case you're the half a percent of people that ever get audited. The IRS doesn't care WHERE the medical procedures were done. Whether it is getting your band in MX or elsewhere, etc, doesn't matter. Insurance companies USUALLY don't care where it is done IF it is something they cover. Of course it would usually get reduced payment due to being " out of network " or similar. Gee, imagine Costa Rica is WAAAYYYY out of network for most of our policies. When I was banded I knew the band wasn't covered (as with my policy NO WLS is covered, EVER, period, end of story, specifically excluded in contract). Doesn't matter if it will save your life. Period. But....when I was banded I got aspiration pneumonia and was in hospital in TJ another four days. (this was in no way related to my surgeon or anything, just that I have had throat surgery which makes aspiration almost guaranteed...and have had it on two subsequent surgeries in US, too, but not on a third one in MX). Anyway, we were smart enough (actually Gail was, I might never have thought of it) to ask for a separate bill for the hospital extra days and for the pulmonologist charge (he hand wrote the receipt on a prescription pad). When was back sent it in to insurance company with a note that said I'd been on vacation in MX and got sick, and would they please pay. So they did. Same 80 percent as if it had been in USA. They didn't know about the band, so the issue of it " being a result of surgery we won't cover " never came up. I didn't lie. Just a case of " don't ask, don't tell " , which is a policy I'm a firm believer in. If they'd asked if I was there for surgery, I would have said yes and it would have cost me almost three grand from them. But they didn't..... dan Thursday, June 26, 2008, 6:19:57 PM, you wrote: > I am having dental work done in Costa Rica.
