Guest guest
That's very cruel, you know! :-) Oregon and Washington and most of the midwest and east are completely snowed in, with more coming. Send some heat and sun! quick! Sandy r > > To increase the jealousy factor, I have to mention that Riverview, Florida > was sunny and warm and in the low 80's today. Guest guest
I've moved back to CA since I just hate the oregon winters. 15 yrs of that was enough. BUT, i am back at the oregon house this week, finishing packing, etc - and am now STUCK. Totally snowed in, 18 inches all over, chunks of ice in the river, 6 ft snow drifts across the yard. No WAY can I get back to Ca for christmas with family! Bummer! But it IS pretty, and I've been out snow-showing a couple hours and taking pictures. Now, it's a blizzard again, and another 6 inches expected. We've already had the power off for (2) 6-8 hr periods. thankfully, we have propane heat in the house, and plenty of camping lanterns, and solar chrgers for the laptop and a small TV/radio for the news. But this is really ridiculous. My final memory of Oregon winters! If I want snow, I will go to Tahoe or Yosemite, thak you! Ack! Sandy r > > I live in Lacey, and work at a small hospital in Tacoma, I had to drive home to Lacey at midnight last night Everyone showed up, or at least the supervisor wasn't asking for any doubles, and the best she would do was a cot in a part of the hospital thats not even used, a little creepy, and I knew I would never sleep under those conditions, did I mention our floor wasn't even 1/2 full? The sup. on call didn't care, she didn't even caution me to drive carefully. When I got home there were 2 cars slid out of control, blocking both ends of my street, and our street is pretty much flat, we have at least a foot of snow between the 2 storms. I'm traumatized, we don't get snow like this in this area. It took me an hour and a half to make a half hour drive, which is quite frankly better than I expected. I won't be doing that today. > > -- > Northrup > mm-Elder Northrup Baltic Mission 5/08-5/10 > mm-Elder Northrup Managua Nicaragua 10/08-10/10 > > --------- Re: Re: Speaking of the weather.... > > > > Sandy, > > > > I grew up in central Illinois, and learned to drive in ice and snow, so I > > really understand cold weather. Guest guest
Wow, we have many nurses on this site, I am also an RN, fortunately I work in Northern CA, although we have gotten snow also, nothing like Seattle/Tacoma or Oregon (where my sis is a nurse). Sandy, I too remember my Oregon winters (hope to never relive them). We lived in Eastern Oregon (Bly Mountain to be exact) at over 5,000 ft level and it would snow THREE FEET at a time!!! We had a snow plow on our truck and would plow snow every hour just to be able to get out to the main road!...BRRRR! I now am in relatively sunny Redding, CA..even though it is cold here and snows significantly only once about every 10 years, I don't miss plowing the white stuff. (I do like to see it over on the mountains though, Lassen & Shasta) J. P.S. Julimarie...what is it about nursing supers that they just don't care half the time...???Burnout??? > > I live in Lacey, and work at a small hospital in Tacoma, I had to drive home to Lacey at midnight last night Everyone showed up, or at least the supervisor wasn't asking for any doubles, and the best she would do was a cot in a part of the hospital thats not even used, a little creepy, and I knew I would never sleep under those conditions, did I mention our floor wasn't even 1/2 full?
