Guest guest
Thank you Tamara: Does the Lortab give you instant pain relief? Is it hard for you to swallow the pill? Thanks for all your patience! How long ago where you diagnosed with A? Guest guest
Thanks MC. I was supposed to have the dilation yesterday, bur because of a damaged balloon it has been postponed for a week. I will stay in touch. Thanks a million mc wagner <dtfanx@...> wrote: No complications with dilitation. I was 'up and about' within hours. I do, however, agree with Sandi - 2 a year doesn't sound like much to me. I do understand the need to get something done soon, but I thought it best to wait the extra couple weeks and get the surgery first. I've been told (on this site, I think) that dilitation works better after surgery. mc wagner --------------------------------- Do you ? Plan great trips with Travel: Now over 17,000 guides! Guest guest
Anita, I don't think the doctors are into pain the way they were in the 1980's when I had my multiple set done. They wanted me to be awake so they could better monitor my reactions. My understanding, from and others is that this is no longer the case. I was fine immediately afterwards. As you said, it might be a good idea to go back and read the posts to get other people's take on the subject, but I'm sure you will receive current responses too. Please don't let fear get the best of you. Apprehension is normal. Sedation will be given, and you will be fine. In a message dated 5/10/2006 10:51:06 A.M. Is this the case even under conscious sedation, or exactly how do they do it. I had a dilation a few years ago, but I'm sure is was nothing like the balloon dilation required for A. I don't remember it being painful during the procedure but I had chest pain for a couple of days afterward. I probably should go back and read posts on this subject, but any info would be appreciated.Anita in Michigan.
Guest guest
-The discomfort for the dilation is limited. Don't worry yourself too much. The amazement of swallowing straight afterwards let you forget it all. The manometry is not so bad and at least it does not last too long. Swallowing the tube is uncomfortable. I blasted water all over the poor technician the first time I did it. Luckily she was wearing a gown. I suppose it is what we must do for a diagnosis and to move forward. -- In achalasia , " Anita Kittell " <akittell@...> wrote: > > I'm probably jumping the gun, but if it turns out I do have A, it > sounds like the balloon dilation can be quite painful. Guest guest
A while back, an email stated that the Files section had a topic Dilation: What is it? I couldn't find that at the group site on . Where exactly is this info? Thanks Langston
