Guest guest
Hello to All, I am a new member here. Although not new to CMT by a longshot. I was diagnosed when I was 8 years old, so CMT and I have become well acquainted. I recently had my 50th birthday and have been reflecting on what fear and worry I lived with in my younger days due to doctors 'predictions' on the course of my CMT. (life in a wheelchair, etc) None of those 'predictions' have come true for me at all. I am very active and always have been - I've been swimming for years for both exercise and CMT;I have a career in publishing; a terrific family; etc. I do not know what 'type' of CMT I have and it has not been an issue with me. Neither child (I have 2) has CMT. (They are in college now and doing very well). I joined this group because it sounded so positive. I am also interested in forthcoming research on CMT. For fun, I am learning to play the saxophone in a jazz band; I also do some volunteer work at the Red Cross. My main CMT 'problems' are my feet - I've had two surgeries a long time ago, they went well, and I do not need AFOs, but, I get incredible burning and hot feet, even in winter. My feet have always done this and I use ice packs on them in the evenings and also change shoes 2 or 3 times a day. Thank you for letting me join your group!
