Guest guest
My legs were always affected by the CMT, but over the past 2 or so years my arms and hands have been also affected. In May of this year with the help of my doctor I applied for SSDI. I am currently being sent to a neurologist though the disability board. After seeing my own MDA doctor he is now saying that on top of my CMT I have CLINICAL signs of carpel tunnel. Is there a sure fire test for this? And can they tell the difference.Plus I'm also wondering how the disabiliy board will look at this! The doctor told me that a surgical decompression MAY help, it is also possible that along with my CMT neuropathy that it will not help or be limited. As far as my hands shaking he stated that is part of the CMT and and he will not institute any medical treatment.I really don't want to have an operation that will not benefit me only beause it may be a way for the disability board to easily say I am not disabled. I can only use my hands for short periods before I can no longer hold things. Plus the pain and cramping in my hands and fingers add to the problem. There is also atrophy in both hands which is a marked condition of CMT. Does anyone else have these problems or can anyone give me advice?.....THANKS
