Thanks P - No worries. Only too pleased to be of some help and your story touched me. Its easy for people to try and make a joke out of it - even my own mother told me yesterday 'everyone forgets things especially as you get older - perhaps you've been at work too long and should have a rest'!! For her sake I resisted making my usual comment of 'if I had a pound for everyone who's said that I wouldn't need to work as I'd be rich!! Like you I'm a 'detail' person and I love your comment about getting things PERFECTLY wrong!!! I have gotten myself into a right state lately due to not being able to remember comments in meetings long enough to write it down for the minutes. I used to be able to do several things at once

now I can't even concentrate on one at a time. I have a horrid feeling its been going on for longer than I care to admit. I used to get away with being a 'ditzy blonde'. Unfortunately I'm now going grey so have to say it was a 'senior moment'. However -sometimes its really NOT funny and quite distressing and difficult to explain to others not similarly affected. The jokes are really only my way of covering up.

Like you say its good to have somewhere to talk to understanding people. Good Luck. Let us know how you get on.

Re: bit shocked by my memory

Thanks for your very helpful message . Again, it is helpful to know that others are going through similar things. I SO relate to your comment about making stupid mistakes and then wondering how on earth you made them. This happens to me a lot. I very confidently go ahead and get things wrong. Very unlike me. I used to be such a perfectionist. Still am, although I get it perfectly wrong now!!!! I very confidently did our banking at home recently, but didn't realise that I hadn't confirmed my payments so of course the bills didn't get paid. I was POSITIVE I confirmed them. The only way I found out what I'd done was when the red letters came in the post. When I checked my receipts, they weren't in fact receipts, but requests for confirmation. I would have NEVER got that wrong before. I get quite surprised by some of the things I do. For eg, I can have a long conversation with someone about

something and get engrossed in the conversation and really be paying attention, and then ask them a question that they've just spent ages explaining to me. They give me a bit of a blank, surprised look and it is usually then that I realise we've just discussed it. I'd be happy to crawl under a rock at those moments. Re the doc's appt. I've packed a folder that contains all of the questions that I want to ask + a page with my symptoms. They are sitting in a bag infront of the front door so I can't forget them. Thanks alot for the advice about writing down examples of my bad memory. I will do this. My 'pot on the cooktop' episode will be one of the examples, but I'll think of others. I've also taken a tape recorder (hopefully they won't mind me using it - my other lovely doctor let me tape all of our appts). I find that if I don't tape the appts, I have no idea of most of what was

discussed. Thanks again for your message and especially the stuff you wrote about the doctor. Has helped me feel a bit stronger about the doc's appt. I'm not totally confident because I don't know this doc well, even though I've only heard good things about them. P>> Hi P> I have similar memory issues...... .Mine is like a 'black hole' at times.....or making stupid mistakes at work which when I look at them I think 'how on earth did I do that'. So you are not alone. I hope you get somewhere with your doctor...... .Write down examples before you go and also list any other symptoms or things you want to

say.....
