Ray and Kerri: I have tried sitting in the tub but then I have a

hard time getting up and out. I do sit on the stool or the side of

my bed when getting dressed. I found out that I couldn't stand up

and put on my slip or slacks by almost falling over while attempting

to do so one morning while getting dressed for work. I currently am

finding it difficult lifting my leg up to get into the bathtub to

take a shower. Sometimes I get so annoyed at the things I cannot do!

I am also currently experiencing issues with the sciatic nerve in my

right leg. I am walking less because of the pain and weakness but I

keep trying to do everything I can. Back on track(sorry) I am

considering a shower chair so that I can sit and not have to worry as

much about falling over while showering.-- a bar is okay but I think

the chair is even more safe. Thanbks for your comments!!

I cannot take a shower and close my eyes so the shampoo will not get into

them because my balance will not allow me. I put a shower bench in the tub

and had a shower extension (made of plastic tubing) fitted where the shower

head is. This allows me to sit and use the shower. It really works great. I

use the stopper in the tub to collect the water....now I have water to soak

my feet. I do miss getting in the tub and soaking, but I can not get up out

of the tub.

JEANANNE: I really am going to get a shower chair for safety reasons

but I still do get into the tub and have someone come and help me get

out or turn over and get on my knees and get up that way(quite undignified

but I get out). Your set up sounds great. Thanks!
