Guest guest Posted December 23, 2002 Report Share Posted December 23, 2002 1.Prepare a home-cooked meal for a single person. 2.Donate a Christmas tree to a family in need. 3.Sign up for missionary work at your church. 4.Tell your family how much you love them and that they are the most important thing in your life. 5.Dress up as Santa Claus and visit eldery people in a retirement home. 6. Have some quiet time with your creator and give thanks for all the good things in your life. 7.Take a moment to reflect upon the true meaning of Christmas. 8.Sponsor a child in another country. 9.Watch " It's a Wonderful Life " or " Miracle on 34th Street " as a family. 10.Say " thanks " to someone you might take for granted: your kid's teacher; your mail carrier; your pastor; (your spouse?) 11.Call an old friend and let them know you were thinking of them. 12.Find someone who is alone and invite them over for dinner. 13.Send something (or some $) anonymously to someone who could use it. 14.Make amends with someone you have hurt. 15.Write someone a thoughtful note about the difference(s) they made in your life. 16.Sing in the shower loudly. 17.Give a carrot to your next-door neighbor's horse. 18.Smile and say " hi " to a complete stranger. 19.Collect crayons and coloring books and drop them off at a shelter. 20.Hold a door open for someone. 21.Stop in a nursing home and say " hi " to someone who is alone. 22.Remember: we're all in this together. 23.Remember: we came into, and will leave, this life alone. 24.(kids): do some extra chores to surprise mom or dad. 25.Be outrageous: try out for part in a Christmas play. 26.Babysit for a single Mom so she can go Christmas shopping. 27.Deliver a plant or even a *real* Christmas tree to an elderly shut-in and stay to decorate. 28.Organize a group of carolers to sing, however off-key, and spread the spirit of the Season. 29.Invite little neighbors over and help them make a craft to give Mom and Dad. 30.Offer to run errands for an older person who might have difficulty getting out. 31.String fresh cranberries and popped popcorn on a strand to hang from the trees for a treat for the backyard animals. 32.Read the Christmas story aloud. 33.Light a candle for families who are missing a loved one. 34.Appreciate silence.
