Guest guest
Hi y'all; I feel that the inputs as to position, amount of force etc., are not getting to the brain. I still have sensation in my toes but I need to touch a wall, carry a cane in the dark, even to stand still. When I say touch, thats just what I mean, not lean or support myself, just touch. I have had my AFOs one week, I still wobble just a wee bit, but have been navigating in the dark, on ice and snow, WITHOUT A CANE, I occasionally look real stupid when I list for no apparent reason but I recover quite well. Yes crowds make it worse, and I'm better at my own pace. My AFOs are articulated (have a hinge) and are spring loaded to assist dorsal flexion (lifting my toes), also are heavily posted at the heel to assist in balance and take the twist out of my foot. I was told that research proved this to be the proper approach. Almost like on a rail! Jim Nash in Ohio
