Guest guest
Hi Wayne, I don't know why it happens but I know what you mean, I don't get thirsty but I dehydrate REALLY quickly so I have to remember to force myself to drink plenty. It might be because of the water retention that we all suffer, especially when on levothyroxine. I have been on Armour for only a few weeks and I am going to the loo every hour or so to pass water!! At this rate I could put out fires!! I have lost nearly 1/2 a stone in the last four weeks!! > > Hi All, > > I am aware since being hypothyroid, that I no longer ever appear to get > really thirsty. Guest guest
Oh my, so i'm not the only one? it would be wrong for me to say that i'm pleased about that but it is comforting. I gauge whether I am hydrated pretty much from urine colour although like you, I now drink plenty of water. I'll have a look more with regards to water retention, I never considered it before so thanks for the info. Good luck with putting out those fires :-) and thanks All the best Wayne -- In thyroid treatment , " glynisrose06 " <arianrhod@...> wrote: > > Hi Wayne, I don't know why it happens but I know what you mean, I > don't get thirsty but I dehydrate REALLY quickly so I have to > remember to force myself to drink plenty. Guest guest
Hi Wayne, I have to say that I've also noticed this. I don't drink a great deal, in fact, while I was doing a freelance job recently, I was drinking several cups of coffee, a bottle of Coke, and then a pint of water at tea. I wasn't weeing exceptionally much and the colour was normal and not concentrated. Lee
Guest guest
Hi Lee, Do you also get a bloated/heavy feeling on occasions too? I should imagine that this is a symptom of the water retention. Perhaps someone might correct me if i'm wrong, but us water retention as a result of not drinking enough water in the same way that the body preserves fats if one does not eat properly etc? Guest guest
I've really been trying to watch my weight so have some super duper new electronic scales so I'm weighing myself all the time. A couple of weeks ago I could feel myself bloating up and particularly round my stomach and in two days i watched the scales go up by 5 pounds!!! However the next day I went to the gym and during a one hour session I had to go to the loo twice and over the course of that day the 5 pounds disappeared. (I'm on water tablets too) Re: Re: Thirst HI Wayne I couldn't live without my diuretic which I take daily. As soon as I stop, I just fill up with water from top to bottom, especially my ankles and feet which can be pretty painful when bloated. Many hypothyroid people carry excess fluid, probably the bodies slow metabolism not doing the job it should and getting rid of this excess makes people feel absolutely fantastic and they can literally lose pounds within the week. I take Co-Amizolide 50 mgs and have had these for years. problem is, I know now that my skin is suddenly really becoming dried out and I will probably look like an old prune one day, and now I am learning to drink, drink, and yet drink more water throughout the day. I am well now after being on Armour for 4 years, but I still have water retention. luv - Sheila Re: Thirst Hi Lee, Do you also get a bloated/heavy feeling on occasions too? Guest guest
I don't think it was the scales though as the weight showed on our old ones too. I felt like I was really bloated but the excersise seemed to get rid of it.
