Guest guest
Dear Member (1) As you will have realised, TPA-UK is an extremely busy forum and we have a lot of traffic. We seem to be getting more and more messages posted every month. So far, from 1st April to 16th, we have received no less than 1272. If, when you registered, you opted to receive 'Individual Emails' you will no doubt be finding your Mail Box over-flowing and this could be causing you great frustration. To overcome this, you can change the way you receive your messages and use the option of a "Daily Digest" where you can get up to 25 messages in one email, or to opt for "No Emails" and read and write messages direct from the website. If you wish to change your message receipt option , please go to thyroid treatment and on the Home Page, just above the dark green bar at the top left, you will see, in blue - "edit membership". Click on that and that will take you to the page where you can do this. Scroll to Step 2 "Message Delivery" and click the radio button of your choice and then click "Save Changes" at the bottom. I hope that will help you. (2) For some time now, I have been working with Lorna V - a freelance journalist, who first approached me with the intention of doing the 'usual' thyroid patient article for Red Magazine - you know the type - where patients get diagnosed, take a little pill of L-thyroxine, and become completely well again. However, after listening to my story about what was really happening out here, she asked the health editor if she could change the article, but the editor decided it was too controversial a subject and declined. The end result of this is that an article based on our discussions will now be published in Style Magazine of The Sunday Times. This will be published on Sunday, 27th April 2008. This should be a very interesting article, and, I understand, gives a very "balanced" approach to the different sides of the diagnosing and treatment protocol within the NHS and the private sector. If anything happens between now and then and the article is postponed, I will, of course, let you all know. (3) My two responses to the BTA Statement on Armour and synthetic T4/T3 combination therapy is actually being printed by Jon (Kim's husband) as I write this message. Jon is very kindly printing off this 26 page response and donating the stationery completely free of charge. He will then send this off to another office for packing into envelopes and posting, and we are hoping this will be completed by Tuesday of next week. Copies of these two responses are being sent to every NHS endocrionologist, every Primary Care Trust, the members of the Executive Committee of the BTA including the President, many thyroid related organisations, members of the Department of Health and various officials in the Government, British Thyroid Foundation, owners of UK thyroid websites and forums and others who have expressed an interest in the past. Around 1000 copies in all. The donations that we have received from members and from some doctors have been overwhelming and I can never thank you all enough. Without Jon and Kim and all who have contributed towards this campaign, it simply would never have been possible. If anybody has not read the responses to BTA, you can see them in the Files section of our Forum or on our website www.tpa-uk.org.uk (look in the right hand column under TPA-UK News on the Home Page. The British Thyroid Association have been informed that the responses are on our website and that their response with their comments will also be posted there too. (4) ...Last, but not least, this is a notification to let you know that Janie, who runs "Stop The Thyroid Madness' website and NTH Forum in America - www.stopthethyroidmadness.com has now written a Book and this should be available for sale in around two weeks time. I am sure that many of you will be very interested in purchasing this book and I am sure there has never been a book written with the information this one contains. Well done Janie, and I hope it is a great success. Best wishes Sheila www.tpa-uk.org.uk
