Way too high.

> FT4 25.6 (Range = 10.3 - 24.45)

Slightly over range, but there you are clearly profoundly hypothyroid,

with all that fT4 sitting in the blood looking pretty. Shouts out

conversion problem.

> FT3 3.8 (Range = 2.76 - 6.45)

Way too low, especially given your high fT4 level. Shouts out

conversion problem. You'll need T3 or Armour.

Hope someone else can be of more help.

These results are FAR from normal. Your TSH is way above the reference range and you should be referred immediately by your GP to an endocrinologist. Your Free T4 is too high (again, above the top of the reference range) and your Free T3 is low. I have never seen a reference range for Free T3 to be 2.76. to 6.45. You need to be referred, no wonder you are feeling. Good luck for tomorrow, and be assertive in getting a referral and as soon as possible. Did they test to see whether you also have antibodies to your thyroid?

Luv - Sheila

After waiting nearly two weeks, I've finally gotten my blood workback. I'm not all that thrilled though, as everything is within a'acceptable' range, and yet I've been feeling worse lately (coldhands, really dry skin, moodiness to name but a few). So, I'll be backto see my GP tomorrow morning, and I'll take it from there. Also, for those of you who are interested in such things, I've listedmy results below. TSH 7.07 (Range = 0.4 - 4.0)FT4 25.6 (Range = 10.3 - 24.45)FT3 3.8 (Range = 2.76 - 6.45)

Blimey, no wonder you feel ill, yes be assertive. Personally I know it

is not easy to be assertive when you feel moody, fed up and tearful.

If it helps I burst into tears in the docs a lot because I get

frustrated. If they don't see how your results are off because as the

girls say they definately are, ask for a second opinion, then a third,

then a fourth, until you get something done.

God bless

Dawn

Hello Rosie,

Thanks for your reply and advise. I can see now what you mean about

the T3 and T4 levels. I'm going to see an endocrinologist about the

results ASAP, and see what is going on exactly.

Hello Sheila,

Thanks so much for your advice.

I have raised the issues of the levels with my GP, but she's told me

that my results are good! Although she has offered to refer me to an

endocrinologist, it'll take 3 months of so for my appointment to come

through, so I'm going to go privately I think. Also, I have checked

the results again, and I was not tested for antibodies as far as I can

tell.

Thank you Dawn.

I have seen my GP, but I'm not happy with her advice, so I'm going to

see an endocrinologist privately. See what they make of the results!

My goodness... whatever happened to having a good bedside manner and

all?! Some doctors are just terrible though when it comes to dealing

with patients.

, May I suggest you find out the names of the endocrinologists

(NHS and private)and email them to Sheila privately? Is that OK with

you Sheila?

My reasoning behind this is I would really hate to see someone in the

same situation as me. I fought for many years to get a referral to an

endocrinologist and eventually achieved it. Unfortunately the chap I

saw turns out to only consider people fit for treatment once their TSH

goes over 10 (mine averages 6 - 7.18), in spite of their symptoms. I

suspect Sheila will be able to advise whether your endo is one of

those!

Getting to see the right person at this stage should save you years of

frustration and get you back on the road to recovery a lot sooner.

Good luck,

Tracey
