Guest guest
Gretchen: I worked the phones for the MDAtelethon on Mon. in stown PA and was told I could not earmark funds for CMT even after I insisted I could. I also did a quickly interview and talked about CMT. Again-need help and attendees for CMT support group in Western PA. JD Hello JD: that is a strange thing for ANY organization to say. It is YOUR donation - you have a right to say what it is used for. I have had a fundraising career for 15 years, and gifts can be and sometimes are restricted for certain projects. I will look into this as it is deeply troubling that MDA would not allow you to donate to CMT. I'd love to help you with your support group - what can I do? I live in California, so I can't be there, but if I can do anything from here, let me know. PS. If anyone else had this same donation problem with MDA would you please let me know? Thanks. ~ Gretchen
Guest guest
Hello friends, Just wanted to say that you CAN earmark your MDA donation for a specific disease, including CMT. The online donation form at the MDA site has a specific place to check if you want your donation to go towards a specific disease. Here is the web address for that page. https://secure.mdausa.org/donate/donate.cfm Hope this helps clear up the confusion. Remember, a pledge during a telethon is simply a pledge. The pledge slips I was using here in Raleigh as I answered phones did not have any fields to indicate memorials or earmarking funds to a specific disease. However, that can be done by letter when they send in the donation. I have not seen the pledge packet that is mailed to contributors to see if it might be contained there. Pledge packets are mailed after the telethon is completed. Ruth in Raleigh Ruth: thanks so much for this information. This is just what I thought. ~ Gretchen
