Guest guest
Ruth, I have used a mask type called Ultra Mirage for the past year and I like it better than any others I tried but it may take you a couple of tries to find the right fit. I really don't hear the machine at all during the night. My wife does hear it but it is such a steady " white noise " that it is almost like the sound of having a fan in the room. I snored pretty badly before I began using the BIPAP so I am sure my wife would tell you the sound of the machine is much more preferrable! Sleeping in the comfort of your own home will give you a much truer picture of your ability to tolerate the machine. I didn't sleep very well either with all of the wires attached to me in a strange bed during the study. I find that the best sleep position for me with the mask is flat on my back. I used to be more of a side sleeper and toss and turn alot. The more movement you have, the more likely you will be to have air leaks around the mask.
