Guest guest
, I had a muscle biopsy about three years ago. They do not sedate adults (for the most part) and just use a local. However, I think they try and sedate children. I have to be honest with you because the doctor was NOT with me. I had a needle biopsy (which I highly recommend) but it still was extremely uncomfortable. The good news is that it doesn't last long. They went into my upper thigh and removed four " pencil eraser " sized pieces of muscle. After they finished there is no pain at all but at the time I was gripping to the table. It does hurt and the reason they gave me one was to determine if I had a muscle disease or a nerve disease. Good luck. I hate to scare you but at least you know the truth. I was informed that " pain was not a consideration. " Karon
Guest guest
My nerve biopsy involved the Sural nerve in the soft part of my outer ankle. It really didn't hurt. It was done under local anesthesia and I only felt a burning when he clipped it. Nothing worse than a visit to the dentist. Bob
Guest guest
I guess my muscle biopsy was extremely painful because I did not have any anesthesia. I had it done at Children's Hospital in San Diego when I was 42. I have a high tolerance to pain but not that much! Karon
