Guest guest
I had the second night of a two-night sleep study last night. The first night I was hooked up to 18 different monitoring wires and devices and put to bed. They monitored brain waves, eye movements, blood oxygen levels, heart rate, leg movements, snoring, jaw tension. ... among other things. No problem sleeping with all the wires, but they woke me up to change sleeping position, and I didn't readily go back to sleep. The second night they hooked up the same 18 wires and devices and added the BiPap machine. That is a mask that goes over the nose and does your breathing intake for you; it allows you to exhale on your own. I did not like it. The mask was uncomfortable on my face; it leaked air when I was in my most comfortable sleeping position; I heard every intake of breath all night long, plus some other noise in my ear with every breath. I did not sleep well or deeply, but was rested enough to go straight to work and put in a ten hour day. This study was to evaluate me for the possible use of the BiPap to conserve muscles that I am using to breathe with for more efficient or longer daytime use. I will not learn the results of the study for two or three weeks, but as of the moment, I do not wish to pursue that plan. I sleep better on my own. I know there are some that use the BiPap for sleep apnea and snoring and are happy with it. Are there any of you out there? How long did it take to adapt to it and is it comfortable for you?
