newly diagnosed Mom with CMT

I am also a mother with CMT. I did not know that I had the disease

until recently. I have three children: 2 daughters age 32 and 27

and one son age 11. My son is currently having issues with heel

pain and walking. He is to be evaulated by a neurologist in August

because of this.- he may have CMT. My oldest daughter most likely

has the disease: she is having issue with her balance sometimes

and feeling in her feet. She has no medical insurance so will not

pursue it any further. My other daughter appears to have no symptoms.

I work with people with disabilities and have for 25-30 years. Any

understanding on their part of the disability community or empathy

that they might exhibit would probably be because of my including them

while growing up in my work. They knew many of the people that I have

worked with over the years.
