Guest guest
Hi, I have a question, maybe a couple. I lost most of my weight in the first 8 months (100lbs) I have heard that weight loss can cause periods to stop, but is that the same as menopause? During the time I was losing weight quickly my period stayed normal, no changes at all. During the last about 5 months I have only lost 10 lbs. but my period is getting further apart and I have started having hot flashes. (my husband of 25 years can't believe it when he sees me throw the covers off and sleep for a while like that, I am usually wrapped up in a couple of quilts) I am only 44 and I have 5 kids, I thought that when you had more kids menopause started later. Do you think my weight loss induced menopause? can it do that? If so, now that I am not really losing much weight any more (definately eating much more) will it reverse itself and go back to normal. I haven't been able to find much info online (just the symptoms) I have a Dr. appt on monday, but she's a regular GP so I don't think she is as familiar with the effects of a large weight loss long term . (She's young herself, only been practicing about 5 or 6 years). Does menopause have any affect on the band, I do feel like I am PMS'ing alot more (which usually means wanting to eat more). Should I be seeing a GYN? Thanks for any input. N
