Braces With Shoes or Boots?

Dear Folks,

My surgeon and orthotist too, tell me that because my ankles protrude so badly,

an AFO will not work for me. I'm now trying to decide about shoes with braces.

My question: The braces will force my foot into alignment (hence, no protruding

ankle) and I'm trying to decide which would work best--shoes or boots? I really

like boots, winter here in Kansas is approaching, so if they will work, I would

like to try them. Of course, I realize the best test is simply to try both, but

they get quite expensive, so if I'm wasting my time considering boots, I would

prefer not to waste money too. I will appreciate any thoughts you have. Thanks.
