Guest guest
Hello a and , I'm glad you found our website too. I think you will find the members to be helpful in sharing their experiences with CMT. I am 42 years old and was diagnosed with CMT at the age of 36. In 1999 and 2000, I had both of my feet operated on, one at a time. My orthopedic surgeon wanted perform the triple arthrodesis procedure; but through this list I learned of a procedure that is called soft tissue surgery. My Achilles tendons were cut, my arches were lowered, and the bone to my great (big) toe was broken and the front of the foot pulled up. A screw was placed to hold the bones together. I was in several casts and I used a walker to hop around on (crutches and I didn't get along). The surgeon mentioned I might have to have the triple arthrodesis procedure performed later on. But for now, I am walking fine. As Gretchen suggested, check out the archives section because we have had numerous postings on triple arthrodesis. Please give my regards to , and again welcome. Please feel free to ask questions regarding CMT or share your personal (or 's) experiences. Keep us posted.
