Guest guest
Hey Bob those are great sources but look at this statement, http://www.endotext.org/adrenal/adrenal14/adrenalframe14.htm GLUCOCORTICOID WITHDRAWAL SYNDROME Glucocorticoid withdrawal can present as an acute adrenal crisis or with symptoms of chronic glucocorticoid deficiency. Thus, patients may suffer from anorexia, myalgia, nausea, emesis, lethargy, headache, fever, skin desquamation, arthralgias, weight loss, and postural hypotension. In addition, they may experience exacerbation of previously present autoimmune disease (eg, rheumatoid arthritis, atopic dermatitis, or asthma) or have new autoimmune disease (eg, Hashimoto's thyroiditis or Graves' disease). Amatruda et al. first defined the steroid withdrawal syndrome as a symptom complex resembling true adrenal insufficiency, with nonspecific symptoms like weakness, nausea, and arthralgias, occurring in patients who have finished a dosage reduction of glucocorticoid therapy and who respond normally to HPA axis testing Someone somewhere has got to make a connection between adrenal function and autoimmune diseases if that is indeed the case. I would like to read that paper by Amatruda et al. if it gets into Hashis and Graves with reference to steroid production and adrenal insufficiency. lotsa luv Dawnx
