Guest guest
What good does it do to have genetic counseling if there's absolutely no history of any hereditary neuropathy disorders in your family whatsoever, as in my case? Guest guest
I haven't run out to do the genetic counseling, but I will when one type of CMT has a treatment. jenny
Guest guest
They will take a history of your child's health, a MD will do an exam and they will likely order blood work to test for various suspected genetic and medical issues. If your child has any health issues as mine does (she has a heart abnormality, growth issue, orthepedic issue) it may be likely there is more to the DX than autism alone. Pam > > I was just wondering if anyone else had considered Genetic counseling for their child. in 2008 when my dd was diagnosed it was suggested that we go see a genetic counselor. I completely forgot about it until this year when we were seeing a new doctor and he asked why we haven't done it yet...no she has some other things going on and was thinking maybe it was time to look into it now. If you have gone through this I would appreciate your feedback and what exactly to expect from this appointment. > > Thanks, > Cheryl >
