Stop The Thyroid Madness

We have the pleasure today to announce you that one of our ITPO founding members , Janie Bowthorpe ( USA ) , has just published a book , with the same title as her great website "Stop The Thyroid Madness" . Congrats , Janie , and thanks for all your great work !

This book is really a scream from the bottom of the heart of all thyroid patients . Janie , like many of us , is in touch with patients , or should I say "victims" , from all over the world and the situation is unfortunatly everywhere the same . Physicians know as good as nothing about thyroid problems and even less about related hormones dysfunctions . Patients are treated like stupid children by arrogant doctors who have no idea what they are talking about . Instead of getting decent treatment we are offered anti-depressants and are kept sick .

But patients just won't be the victims any more ! Thanks to the internet we are all in touch . Thanks to some competent doctors we have learned a lot about our condition . Thanks to people like Janie , and many other "Janies" in other parts of the world , we have started a revolution . We have created websites , opened forums , written books , set up petitions , founded local support groups , associations , and even the International Thyroid Patient Organisation , which federates activ thyroid fighters from all over the world . So don't be a victim any more , join the revolution ! And don't miss this excellent book that will open your eyes and help you to regain your health .

Patient Seminar in Germany

A patient seminar about thyroid disease will take place in furt / Germany on saturday may 17th , 2008 . The physicians present will be : Prof. Lothar Hotze , Frau nne Krug , Dr. Werner , and Dr. Sojitrawalla .

I'm happy to present you a good doc in California today , Dr. Swerdloff in Santa . Except being a very nice person , Dr. Swerdloff is also passionately interested in hormone therapy . She is taking courses with Dr. Hertoghe , and doesn't miss a single occasion to learn allways more about it . We thyroid patients of the world have compiled a petition for better diagnosis and treatment of hypothyroidism . We are working together with the good doctors of this world ( oh yes , they d o really exist , even though you maybe haven't met one yet ) . The doctors have written a petition too , which is signed by the doctors . In addition to this , we patients wrote our own petition , with our own words , from our own point of view , and with our own first hand experience . tell us your story

Did it happen to you , at some point in your life , to switch from T4 only thyroid replacemen t to either a combination of synthetic T4+T3 or natural thyroid , and you felt a lot better with it ? If so , please tell us your story ! As you may know , many patients in the world still don't have access to T4+T3 treatment , be it natural or synthetic , either because of the ignorance of their doctors , or because T3 preparations do not even exist in their country . The ITPO fights for better access to good treatment for everybody , and the many stories we collect will help persuade authorities that T3 is for many patients a necessary med that makes life worth living again . It's not absolutly necessary that you start your story the day you were born , the important thing is to know how you felt with T4 only treatment , which symptoms you had , and how you felt then on natural thyroid or synthetic T4+T3 .
