Guest guest
Kat, Thanks for responding. This nerve biopsy is being done as a last resort. I found out last Wednesday that I don't have CMT. After being diagnosed with it over 6 years ago, this was a real shock for me to learn. Apparently, my neuropathy is not peripheral, it's neuronopathy. After my weeklong visit to Mayo Clinic last week, and several tests that are coming up as " inconclusive " such as blood tests, nerve conduction studies, EMG's, just to name a few, I now have more questions than answers. My EMG is extremely abnormal, but the amplitude is completely normal. My doctor really didn't want to do the biopsies unless he was left with no choice. I still do not understand what he is looking for with these biopsies, I just know that I don't want to have to deal with permanent pain from the surgery. My information is that 3 - 5% of people have this chronic pain - I already have enough physical problems to deal with.
