What kind of Medication do you take for your tremors and does the

medication have any side effects???? - L

L - I have taken Elavil (amitriptyline) for my tremors for

about 15 years. It is the only one that truly helps. Believe

me, I tried just about everything. I take a very small dose

before bed. At first, I felt a bit sleepy, but once the

medication and I got used to each other, no side effects since.

At my yearly physical my doc and I re-evaluate it as well as

the tremor amplitude. I will tell you, that under stress or

trauma, my tremors can get out of control, then we (doc and I)

'adjust' the dose for 3-6 months depending on what is needed.

Still no side effects. I know others have had side effects

from E., but it is the only med. I have tried that works so

well for me in many other ways as well - with no ill effects.
