Guest guest
Gretchen, What is a clinical pilot study? This was stated in the article. I assumed it was a clinical study with humans. Is a clinical pilot study with mice???? Anyway, I am excited to hear of the outcome too. Betty
Guest guest
Hi Betty, Yes, I THINK a 'clinical pilot study' refers to the mice or rats or whatever, so the Drs. can observe them all the time and keep track of changes in them etc. A study with humans for this will most likely be in the form of a double-blind-placebo human trial; meaning some of the participants get the NT-3, some don't ( they get a pill but it is a placebo) and NO ONE, not even the Drs/researchers know who gets what till the study is completed. And of course the humans have to check in with the Drs and report symptoms and anything they notice and since this has to do with nerves, I am supposing any humans that go in this trial will be subject to an EMG, both before trial and after, since the whole thing involves nerves and the EMG is able to show reinnervation, so that's how they will tell if reinnervation occured or not, I guess. Like I said, on my 'to do list' is to find out more information. Thanks to all who have emailed me with your questions; some I had never thought about asking, so will get on this and see what comes about. Now this is wierd, but I wonder if they give the mice or rats a mini EMG? Or do they just kill them and dissect to see the reinnervation?? ~ Gretchen Buchie54@... wrote: > What is a clinical pilot study? This was stated in the article.
